I have a script coded for me to great each new member and to send a birthday greeting to each member that listed their birthdate. That's how I keep my post count up!

I believe there are plenty of spambots that sign up…but there are also plenty of people that land here on quests for knowledge. Either they want to see a pic posted, or they’re looking for some tech info for a project/repair. When they’re freshly signed up, seeing their recent activity is pretty easy…often they’re viewing threads like an amp repair, or guitar finishing/building/wiring/pickups…they hang out for ten, twenty, minutes and move on.
The spambots are mostly the “one minute wonders” that are often seen. As far as the greeting threads go, I like them. It points out the new sign on characters, and if I click on the name link…I can usually see if they’re behaving like a human.

It all starts with creating a forum like this. Once you have the foundation built, it's just like modding a guitar. Hack out stuff you don't want and wire in stuff you do want.

The script file has to be uploaded to the web hosting server. It runs from there.
