Are There Any Other Saxophone Lovers in Here?

I like what Zappa said about saxophones, and that if you want sleeze you need a sax. However, most sax players (especially Kenny G.) are annoying as hell. The solo in the Rocky Horror was good in that it was mixed well. I think that I like baritone and tenor sax better. Alto and soprano sax are just plain evil. Maybe they are pitched too high for my enjoyment.

I met Kenny G. about twenty years ago. We chatted for a few minutes and joked around a bit. He was very personable and friendly.

I do like saxophone playing...whether that’s smooth jazz or rock and roll.

Well....I bought a Sax. I had fun trying back in the 90's pre-internet and now there is so much out there to help me out I just had to...

I'll post up when it gets here and I'll save you all a headache and not post any noise unless I learn quickly!

I always wanted to give it a whirl, but one of those brass beasts are not cheap to try to see if Swampboy likey....

Those $250 Chinese Sax on Amazon have come a long way. A pro Sax player compared one on a YouTube video and he was quite impressed! Plus you can return anything to Amazon if you don't like it...

I dig sax and horns in general in rock, blues, R&B, etc.
Dusty Springfield Son of a Preacher Man is a good example.

I had an inkling to pick up the trumpet or sax a while back, but quickly realized I dont have time, after I could not keep up with harmonica.

My brother played the sax as a kid before taking up guitar.
I didn't appreciate it back then.

I'm guessing the metrics are just like guitars; diminishing returns. Incremental increases in quality cost a disproportionate amount per increment past a certain baseline point.

Harmonica is tougher than Sax IMO. I had two Saxophones back in the 90's and I had a Harmonica. I was much better on the Sax and gave up the Harmonica quickly...

I believe you are correct because many of the Yamaha student and intermediate models are now made in China.
