Anyone interested in another TTR community "Happening?"

Yessir @BFT Gibson a live band situation is something few of us enjoy, (or endure).

How many TTR roomies feel confident you can craft semi-cohesive lyrics into a song? 4/10?

How many can take provided lyrics, put 'em to music, then arrange into song form? A slightly different 4/10, I think. 2/10 might feel confident in doing it.

How many reading this can complete a reasonably good recording/production job? 4/10?

Now, who here can do all of the above ten times in a row riding a theme inside a year?

This is why I suggest AI as a "helper." This event concept will be no easy challenge. If you can do it without AI we may end up proclaiming you King of TTR

Ultimately I'm hoping to break boundaries with an exercise that's freeing and fun for ALL who dare try, guilt free, for exploration and discussion.

From my limited experience, with AI everyone here could create something interesting they might even be a little proud of, without suffering deep frustration via creative and technical skill blocks.

It's well-proven anyone is now able to initiate AI "slop" with a few clicks. However, the musically inclined seem able to do much better with these tools.

You won't be forced to use digital help. I do believe there'll be situations where you may be VERY glad it's there when you need it... in fact, this entire concept would probably die inside three rounds without it.

Just offering to help stir guide and encourage members willing to attempt a rather ambitious personal project and share the process collectively.
Fully supportive brother ! I understand. I encourage this Riffmasters to continue. The last one was fun. You are so right. Our musical lives are all dif, My Living Room is a recording desk set up. 50' cords to the band room to record amps in the Zone. The band room is our practice room with full PA & drum kit. I go back there and its just part of everyday life, beat on the drums and another song is done in about 6 hours.
Always on call to fill in at church P&W as needed. So the ability is instant here to record any instrument organically with the push of a button.

I hope this goes forward. Not sure of my availability, with 1 more year to position my work to sell to my tech & writing another full album & a gigging practicing band.

All opinions welcome, this is why I put it out there. It's a divisive issue, but real.
The printed word destroyed sermons
The automobile destroyed horses and wagons
The phonograph destroyed live music
Radio destroyed book readin'
Television destroyed radio
The internet destroyed TV

Technological change happens and through it all humans adapt or wither.

Video killed the radio star.

Those technologies didn’t destroy earlier tech. They simply changed them. Television killed off radio drama, so radio started playing recorded music, for example.

To clarify those thoughts... that's what naysayers claimed during the period of transition but it didn't happen in all cases. The only one for real was the horse and wagon.

My suggestion for all of who feel apprehensive is... sign up for a Suno account, it's no cost, and fairly straight-forward. Toy around a bit, try to have fun, come back with your thoughts.

Nobody is forcing anyone to use AI, I welcome anyone to go it without. Respect. We know who here who has what abilities for the most part.
View this is everyone's chance to play football in a low-gravity environment.

I'm looking for max forum entertainment value and ease of forumite participation that won't fizzle out inside two rounds because of difficulties and dedication issues.

In fact... say we did NOT allow AI at all.. and attempt to create our own 10 track concept album in 12 months. Who will commit to that?

What don't you trust? They'll may steal all the valuable artistc pearls you've been hoarding?

I think I do understand that...

At my age, I figure a few laughs and sharing is likely the best and only value I'll ever see from my musical "treasures"
AI IMHO is dangerous. Why? because of the people who run/control/modify the databases. People like Musk who regularly manipulate what you are provided as answers to your questions.
I do not trust him or his ilk in any way.

I've suddenly found a little too much extra time on my hands and want to give back to The Tone Rooms... I'm currently roughly fleshing out a new "game" for lack of a better term. Plus, I'm itchin' to make and hear more new/original TTR music and/or creative expression. Let's see if we can't spice TTR up a little together... naw, I know we can!

If you've enjoyed the Game of Toanz or RiffMasters TTR forum events from past years (whether watching or taking part), it'll be in a similar vein, but different. Above all I want it to be super fun, inclusive, bring us together and boost this amazing community.

This one will NOT be points-based, no winners or losers... but I think there needs to be regular votes/feedback opportunities if only so participants and watchers can enjoy ratings, critique, commentary and friendly encouragement. However you'll basically be pitted 100% against yourselves.

To foster musical fellowship, I'm hoping to build in mandatory random collab pairings between game-players (as in-depth or minimal as you each may choose, depending on the stage).

There will be presentation deadlines, as chapters are required, 6 weeks at a time... so it will be a commitment. However, if a stage or two get missed it's only going to take away from your own final finished product.

At the end of it all it's my hope participants will come away with a somewhat fully-produced and personalized concept "album" they may be proud of... put your thinking caps on!

You'll likely learn a bunch of stuff, have many a laugh, be pushed creatively and get to know your brothers and sisters way better along the way.

DAW / recording skills will be very useful but I'd Iike to also gauge opinion on the possible use of AI to allow wider participation.

Many like myself worry how we cannot sing well. I believe it's now possible to upload recorded music into AI sites and have lyrics sung via a generated AI voice though it may still be a bit clunky... I do plan to explore this more in-depth though. In fact, for the creatively inclined, but not fully confident in musical, lyrical or production abilities? Perhaps this "happening" might welcome ALL types of AI usage up to and including full lyric, music and recording production. I think any such useage will be required to be labelled if not plainly evident.

It's now 100% ripe for YOUR discussion here my friends. The reason I bring AI up is the times they are a-changing, and quickly. As I understand it the current #1 charting country song happens to be an AI creation. Likely conjured by someone (or a team of folks) rather musically-inclined.

I personally enjoyed a toe dip in those waters myself last year via Suno and as wrong as it may seem, I found the experience rather fun and somewhat creatively empowering, as fake as it is. I also believe it's much "improved" since I toyed with it a bit about a year ago.

Deeply against feeding the AI? Perfectly OK. You'll simply be left to source singers or perform your own "spoken word" Leonard Cohen style lyrics. Or, you can collaborate or build out an instrumental concept album and still be proud as punch!

Ultimately, I hope to provide a fun and rewarding event template here. One that's non-discriminatory within which we can share and enjoy ways to express ourselves using whatever available tools... We all have a keen interest in music here and a wide range of skillsets. Fortunately there's lots of new cool tools available.

This is the place and time to discuss... and/or toss your hat into the ring early if you wish. I'm aiming for a Dec. start. Please understand these events take a deep commitment to "host."

Whattaya say TTR?
This is what I’ve been waiting for!!!!
A BARBARIAN BOB REVIVAL!!!!
METAL TO THE CORE!!! \nn/

I'd give that a go.

I tried Suno a while ago. It scared the s##t out of me. I typed a couple of sentences and picked a genre. Five minutes later I had a song with a full band and vocals with three verses pre chorus, chorus, and outro. It was as good as a lot of the stuff o youtube and tiktok. I could be getting views and streams. I started looking at YouTube. There is a guy in the Phillipines putting out a dozen songs a day, all ai, all generating revenue. There is no talent in that.

Not entirely true. Those horse, wagon, and buggy drivers adapted to the new technology and evolved into Cab drivers.

@Kerry Brown said
"No talent in that" but I do commend you for exploring so at least you know of what you speak.
That's the rub. I don't believe anyone here desires a long running TTR talent competition. Or, do you?

Personally, l'm simply hoping for general :poo: s 'n giggles 'til we can all come out with something tangible in the end, FWIW. Something more journey, less destination.
I've fleshed out hardly 1/3 of the program. These events end up a WIP for the first run through, plenty of chaos and panic on the back end.

Planning an engaging and fresh interactive program focused on music and creativity that won't intimidate or alienate 3/4 of a diverse group is no easy task. I'm herdin' cats here. I did expect pushback, but also more "Hell Yeahs!". The concept and required enthusiam/energy can be shelved for a different time or place. Can't force fun.

Before I slink back into the background, I remain open to your fine ideas /alternatives my brothers.

I’m not very good at following through with that stuff. But if you need something, feel free to ask. You are waaaay more driven with your stuff, and you produce massive quantities of material in the time it would take me to decide on a tempo.
I’m kinda obsessing over a couple of things at the moment. One would involve me working on my bass chops for an old original. The last session of recording my old drummer…I’ve been sitting on the track out of respect for the other band members, but I’m feeling like it’s been sitting long enough now.
