Announcing... RiffMasters!

OK here we go. This was the best I could muster with my limited trick bag. I made a quick BT and I think I managed to get in some tapping, dive bombs/tremolo, pinch harmonics, regular harmonics, right hand harmonics, slides, double stops, palm muting, unison bends and a big pile of slop tying it all together. I bow down to you tricksters who have mastered this stuff.

Whoh Mouse, I bow to you! That is frigging awesome, all the way through. You have some mega chops and great technique. And the ending was a show stopper! So you got my vote. And now I have to go through the charade of submitting my own cheeze and I will say right now, just so it's on record----I am not going to come anyway close to what you laid down. Jeez.

Thanks Murph. I'm a terrible trash talker and honestly could give a rip about winning. Someone will come along in the side hustle and smoke me I'm sure. These are about the participation and I'm really looking forward to hearing whatever you come up with which I'm certain will be more musical than this. I learn a lot from hearing how others approach the instrument.

The metal guys have it easier anyhow as we just dial in an assload of gain to hide the slop. :ROFLMAO:

Lol, somebody may indeed unleash some pyrotechnics in the side hustle but you definitely smoked the challenge. I'll submit some cheez whiz on crackers at some point in the next few days.

Thought I would throw in my 1 minute tricks n stuff. Playing live, it is a show and showmanship counts. 1 thing I missed was playing with my teeth but you need to see that one!!

Starts with
Harmonic with bar low and bring it up to a high pitch
Pick slide with toggle stutter
Goes into basic tapping which morphs to right hand tapping and left hand HO and pull off on the same fret, if that makes sense at 19 secs
23 secs is pounding body of guitar to flutter w bar
Some false harmonics and whammy bar flicking the tip at 29 secs
30 secs is a whammy slide - slide a note up at approx the same rate you drop whammy in an attempt to keep the same note thru. Works better with wah.
34 secs is harmonic touching, HO open string (my G string, whoa!) while lightly touching string with right hand and sliding up. @Mouse did that as well.
42 secs in is fretting 12 fret with right picking hand index like a capo and HO notes w left hand.
46 seconds is robot, just random R hand crawling all over fingerboard.
Harmonics and whammy end it.

I hope you guys washed your hands after these. Then, I might high five ya! It's supposed to be fun, and these are all that and moar!

Perfect submissions so far. Exactly on point, it's a fine line for the main duellists... musicality vs gimmickality.
Everyone else? Go for broke!

If I could ask you two fellas @Mouse @Jethro Rocker to please go back and edit your posts to add a count (total number) of different tricks in your tracks as you hear 'em? Thank you!

All future "Trick Bag" duel submissions also need that total too please.

Excellently done @Mouse

Depends what's considered a trick? Harmonics?

As I listed above would be 12.
I counted toggle stutter and pick slide as 2. Any repeated ones I did not count. Pinch harmonics neither, that's just part of playing.
Most of that stuff just sounds like parts of a gig for me!! :D

FLEX!! Whoooooo!

@frostyjr2 is first in for the Main Event Round 8 with her Metalmorphed version of "Systemic" by Robert Palmer. A nice touch on her post to embed the original video and I recommend others do similar.

Again with the Santana-ish tone to a galloping drum groove with a gritty driven rhythm driving it along... a little palm muting on that rhythm track as an anchor might have metalized it a bit more for some chunka-chunka, especially due to what kept grabbing my attention was a rather busy bottom end.
This was a successful genre transplant, though it will not be eligible for Disco hit or Rap music bonus points. How'd she do it so fast?

Nice, 'thro!

Who's got something interesting cookin' on the DAW stove, baby?

I have a basic drum track built for "Can't get U Outta my head" now.
I'm wondering if I should do a more aggressive bass or more true to the original.
Maybe I'll get hat down this weekend, but I have in-laws visiting from afar, and a BBQ dinner party in the planning stages if the weather holds. Steak on the grill probably asparagus, baked tater, etc.

I think I know how I want the "KERRANG" to sound though, and the vocals, or voice noises, more accurate description of what I can do.

Try to resist dancing when it drops. And, you probably won't get it out of your head, if I do my job right.

I’m afraid I have not yet gotten creative. I did start getting a guitar tone and scratch idea for the duel. Not close on that.
