Announcing... RiffMasters!

Damn, I've missed so much working on this guitar, Eleanor Rigby, and visiting a dearest friend in hospice. I haven't had a second to do much of anything else. I hope all is well with everyone. This song was most difficult to work on, not just musically, but emotionally as well as that dearest friend of mine, Nene, just passed the night before last. She was one of my best friends. She was a rocker chick that went to EVERY show. I tried my damnedest to get her to seek alternative therapies and call a couple of people that would have REALLY helped her, however, her bestie, Nessa, somehow managed to take control of everything to the point she was even telling people to not let me talk to Nene... The CrAzIeSt thing about all of this is, they are both alternative therapists themselves, Nene was an acupuncturist and Nessa, a massage therapist. I guess some people just let fear take over and they fall into the mainstream SICKCARE system. My best friend Phill and I are both dumbfounded by it all as we were all forever talking about fasting, eating healthy and organic and staying away from all the garbage, (save for alcohol, which I don't consider garbage at all and I can still party with the best of 'em 'til sunrise).

Well, here's my submission. Eleanor Rigby, recorded on a fretless Les Paul, taped strings and all, (I could only use the bow on one string at a time and only the high E and dropped D so I taped the rest of the strings to stop them from sounding). I tried the Ebow, thing was as useless as a legless dog. Already returned it. I was attaching clamps to the body to hold it upright, cuz, believe you me, trying to fret a fretless, while bowing and holding it up with your fretting hand at the same time does not work too well. Especially when needing to use vibrato. Basically, I had to learn how to play a whole new instrument to do this, lol. Damn, I should have gone with my first choice of song, IN THE YEAR 2525. Now THAT is a song that is quite befitting the times. I didn't go for putting my own twist on it. The Beatles songs are already perfection. I hope not to insult anyone with this rendition.

So sorry for your loss. So far the group of idiots I ran with in HS are still here. But as we all cross into our 70s, just a matter of time.

Your song post. Excellent. Well done.

Wow!!
Firstly so sorry about your friend.
Secondly, that was amazing! The string parts could easily have been done on synth but seems were not!
Crazy good...

Wow just amazing work , I’m speechless at the effort, but bravo.
And sorry for your loss, we are going though something ourselves right now and am getting tired of watching the health care providers seemingly do their best to get sick people dead as fast as possible. Then hand you a bill.

Peace be with you.

Big time Beatles fan here and that was outstanding Ku2.Fantastic job.The tallent on here is amazing. And what is that bridge piece thingy on that Lester ??? Fretless Les Paul you say ? Thats a first for me ill tell ua. Wow.Baby im Amazed :)
That is the Gizmotron 2.0. I was trying to take more pics but I can't figure out how to lower the file size to accommodate.

Thank you for the sentiment. I had to laugh at the second sentence. The ppl I ran with in HS are all younger then me, (crazy stories of escaping enslavement and torture only to miss finals, and running away from group and foster homes only to be told I can not attend school without an address), and most of them already have one foot in the grave.
And, Thank you!

Thank YOU! Oh, I think NEXT time, if ever there IS a next time, I will use a synth. It was a bit ridiculous what I had to do. Like recording two notes on one track, then the next three on another because I am only able to use one string at a time, (only the high E and drop D), when using the bow. The more melodic stuff was the Gizmotron. I LOVE the feel of the real bow though, and now I need to get myself a double bass fiddle and a cello. I've always said I want one of EVERY instrument. I recently put a deposit on the SOLAR 42 Ambient Machine by Elta Music. I started watching a YouTube video about it and before the host even started playing with the thing, I pause it, sought out the website, and purchased it straight away.

The Gizmotron 2.0 was also a quick purchase specifically for my submission and I didn't think it was going to make it here in time. Besides all that, the guy seemed to be very pessimistic about attaching it to a Les Paul, it working properly and my ability to be able to use it. His exact words were:

"Hi, we can get this out by thursday at the latest. I will say that unless you have used a gizmotron before, you may run into a big learning curve. They are a little tricky to set up on a Les Paul and it might take you weeks or even months to be proficient enough to play that piece. I would say, however, that if you have good skills with an ebow, you likely won’t have a problem. Hope this helps,

Aaron"

To that I say,
