Announcing... RiffMasters!

Thank you @LiveeviL2000

Eleven days remain in Main Event Round 2 my brothers.

Expect a flood of submissions to come in over the next week...
by my calculation up to a possible TWENTY-SIX more entries in the various categorizations allowed: Rock-to-Folk, Folk-to-Rock, and Punk'd

Remember, in the event of a tied vote, the earlier submission wins so delaying your
entry may work against you if the vote is close.

Ok, lets make that twenty-five submissions we have to wait for, this one is the opposite of fun and light, sorry!

My take on the Barry Mcguire version of "Eve of Destruction" with an "Edgy" guitar treatment, and a lyrical update.
It was an anti-war protest song released in 1965, written by PF Sloan. "Eve" actually knocked "Help" by the Beatles out of
#1 position on the Billboard charts back in the day. I chose it because it's a nice compliment to my Megadeth submission,
"Symphony" being another destruction-themed song.

Sorry about the choppy "something to look at" video. It's better than a blank screen.
I actually made a real video, not suitable here.

Production notes:
I had fun doing the ping-pongy pans of the bitey echo guitar track, never tried that before, and I was able to utilize sends to another track for the first time for reverb and a stereo separation plugin I was digging. It's kind of a headphone thing.
I also employed a light touch of gritty gain on my vocal for the very first time, but kept it subtle.

Four guitar tracks. One echoey high bite, one lower clean delay chugga rhythm, one dirty power chord chugga rhythm no echo, one open chord clean that's hardly in the mix

Learning when enough is enough is still a challenge. Always wanted to try something in the "Edge" sort of vein but getting that vibe down was tricker than I thought it would be.

Gee whiz. In my scrolling attempting to catch up on what all I’ve missed….. I missed this. That was enjoyable. And a bit envious. Stuff I can’t even pretend to be able to do. Maybe someday.

Edit: Although. Jack Black on repeat was about like a watching a strobe light while dealing with a migraine. :pound-hand: o_O

For some strange reason i was driving down the road on the way to a call & thought

is there a way to make a submission only thread to house the music. Then a separate one for other stuff. So it gets to the point we give up trying to figure all out in any kind of order. Some submissions are getting buried ..its about the music man lol

While I want to agree with you and @C-Grin on a clean 'n tidy thread, i think it takes a lot of the fun GAME-RELATED repartee out of, which is at least half the joy of it all. You cannot fathom how much I want nothing but music during the end of a round.

I considered forming a separate thread for a dual post for reposts of music submissions only just for my own sanity, but it seemed a clunky solution. I am open to ideas. I have enough going on, anyone wants to volunteer for the job? I have a feeling we start a music posts only thread and within five posts, it becomes another free-for-all mess.

I know this is somewhat chaos. Others watching, casual gamers continually bring up the fact they cannot follow along. Usually those not actively engaged in the submitting. Can we sort of try to somewhat control the chaos on the front end before it gets posted? I ask myself this a lot!!!

Frequent flyers... try a little post restraint? Think twice! Before you smash that green button, consider all the good feelings of personal empowerment and exercising some self-control will give you. The longstanding TTR tradition of "Derailment is Fun & Cool" can still be fully put to work in the voting threads, or the other RFM "Randomness" thread. Says so right in the title. Not here, please try to resist.

The recent posts above? fully game related, not an issue

Like I mentioned to one member recently via PM, don't be the genital, in tangential. Clever eh?

Is it just me or has there been a palpable improvement in 2nd round submissions over the first round already, with still many more to come in? Delivery, song choice, production...

I feel better on my second round than the first. I wonder if this trend may continue all through. By the end, game submissions may very well be beyond what we each thought we could accomplish, musically and production-wise.

I like to golf with fellas who are better than me and competitive, but not too much better, maybe five or six strokes better. Forces me to work harder and level up my game.

Many of us here in RiffMasters haven't ever made a damn dime via playing guitar and are fightin' hard. We still have yet to see a full field of possible Poll Vote missing submissions from more than a few seasoned pros. Plus who knows what SURPRISE entrant might drop-in that none of us may be expecting, to steal away gainable points from those already building up a score.

The drama, the wait. I know they are feeling the pressure too. They won't admit it of course, as they quickly glance at their watch.

Gol'dang-it boys this is so much fun!

Also, don't you just love it in the movies when the director abruptly cuts to a giveaway close-up shot? Something you always know foreshadows some sort of big deal in the evolution of the story?

iu

Yeah, actually I don't really love that much either. Kind like spoon-feeding, amirite?

Also, why is it that brother @LiveeviL2000 wants to establish himself as some sort of authority on homicidal maniacs? Feels kinds wierd

A locked thread ? Submission only for contest videos. No banter ?

@ibmorjamn this is not a locked thread. Post away! Tell us how your project is going. If you are proposing a locked thread for submissions only, I dont like that much for reasons already stated.

RiffMasters is all about musical and personal expression, within the boundaries of game-related chatter.

I mean, can you actually believe thatbastard wore his Beantown Bears jersey? No faster way to jinx your team than that move. very bad ju-ju

Shutout the Devils today…right after I set this rig up. So….

Kemper to Soundcraft direct. SM7b to UA-6176, to Soundcraft. Drums via EZDrummer 3. Played, and sang, randomness to a looping drum riff, in front of my phone. Sent video to laptop running Reaper(where I had recorded live audio to accompanying drum track). Synchronized video to audio, and edited drums to fit. Rendered. Posted. Made a bison ribeye steak and eggs, on cast iron. Sat and watched the shutout…12th in Swayman’s short career. YUM!
;);)
You’re right though…hasn’t been going great the last few…points, yeah…but singles in post regulation…:(
But, today was a good day.

How do you guys record with no internet ?
Yesterday all good today nothing. Little baby ice storm, nothing like Canada weather. Our infrastructures must be made of paper mache.

Everything on my DAWs is wanting to connect to the mom. Plugins need their mommies.
I can play an amp but that's it.
