Announcing... RiffMasters!

I have just done some serious calculatory speculatin' hypothetography. I can now announce Four RiffMaster players are theoretically within reach of grasping the next level beyond "Busker" after this round. Three of them are real long shots though.
I doubt anyone will actually make it though, until sometime during or after Main Event round three.

With a little less than a week left I know what that duel pressure cooker feels like.

As it stands now, with my bonus 3pt main challenge entry, I have a tenuous grasp of first place. But with so many points yet to be tallied I suspect I won't be up here for long!

@SG John stepped onto the field thumbing his nose at the man with his punk'd entry.

We have about 4 weeks left in this Folked Up round 2 challenge with 4 main event entries already logged in from 4 of the top 5 ranked RiffMasters.
@Thatbastarddon is undoubtedly out back playing with Sasquatch as his folking inspiration brews in his head.
@ibmorjamn , @Jethro Rocker, @BFT Gibson , @jtcnj , @Kerry Brown , @Ku² and @SG John still need to show us how folked up they really are.
There is even a rumor going around that @iblive might even join the fray since this folk thing is "All up in his wheelhouse".

and still the question remains, where in the folk are @LRT , @mcblink ... and can @Mitch Pearrow SJMP still be stuck in holiday traffic??

Just a little general game announcement: early in this Folk'd round brother C-grin dropped what he clearly called a "work in progress" With the Bobby D Blowin' in The Wind cover rocked up. As the rules go, if you drop a submission in the main game thread you are not allowed to edit... but at that time we had no designated place for alternate takes and whatnot. We do now.

So please don't do like he done and expect we will allow you to edit later to use as your official poll vote submission.

I did offer the option to C-grin to edit as a "one time only" thing as there was no alternate thread at the time. He may, but even his first drop was kinda awesome, truly had that "spontaneous fire" thing going on.

So, henceforth... if you drop a submission in the main thread, consider it a game entry. If it's too short, or otherwise lacking you'll be rewarded a disqualification instead of a re-do.

Riffmasters was conceived to give all a sporting chance so nobody should be cowering in fear of what's ahead.

In my mind the EVH tap challenge was one of the harder things, and you guys pretty much ate that up.

I think the more difficult bits will not be so much technical, but brain challenges... like forcing us to reach outside our Rock mindset and consider a little how folk music fits into things on a grand scale. Genre bending and such. Then we get to enjoy and consider how everyone else approaches these "problems*

Personally, for me I'm hoping RiffMasters helps me improve my arranging and production skills.
I fully realize I'm at best a pretty mediocre guitar player and this game isn't going to end with me as a shredder. We all bring a different skillset to the table and that is going to be the most randomly fun part.

I'd give anything to understand production lol seriously, I am hopeless when it comes to recording. I've done it a handful of times and a few of those times, it turned out decent but that was me sending the files to someone else and them fine tuning it after days on end of painstakingly recording something, over and over and over again ( i never figured out editing, so if i make a mistake? Start over from scratch).

It has helped me think outside the box a little. It is fun.
I actually like the folk challenge.
 
I really don't want to do this but I have to bow out of the competition. I have arthritis. It is getting worse. I spent three hours yesterday working on the punk rock challenge. Today I am in a lot of pain and can barely use my right hand to pickup my morning coffee. I really enjoyed the challenge of expanding my repertoire to genres I wouldn't have considered. I'm going to have to take a day off work which I can't afford. Sorry, but I'm out.

Who amongst the rest of youse are lighting patchouli incense, installing beaded curtains and gobbling down copious amounts of vegan smoked brisket trying to get your Folk on?

Turn down that overused gain knob and take a drive to jangle-town! Dust off the acoustic with the lifeless six year old strings. Put on a poncho. spin one up, and just let loose. Two ways to go, the serious Riffmasters will do both.

Together we can save the world, or at least annoy it for a little while
