Announcing... RiffMasters!

This was a weird round for me with the jazz side hustle.
Full disclosure. I started listening to @frostyjr2 ‘s Soundcloud to get some jazz background before I started “trying” to play. I really don’t have a natural feel for jazz. It goes against what I want to do naturally.
Oddly, there is something I do find interesting about jazz and I have a feel for it , just a little but I’m not in to it enough to pursue it.

I live about four blocks from the local post office. In the summer i cycle there probably three times a week, mailing straps that I carry in the milk crate bungied to the back. Today I was in a rush to make the truck so was bootin' 'er real good and there's a blind corner, where NOBODY ever comes down, i mean it's a sleepy little town here, so I take it pretty fast for fun.

Today, was different.

I come into the corner as fast I usually try to take it, suddenly a dude's coming at me pretty fast himself, also on a mountain bike...
a bush there hides what's the view for both of us. Anyway, we saw each other about the same time. Not sure what he did, I slammed on my brakes and did the old side-skid pretty intensely, ended up dropping pretty hard onto my shoulder before almost swiping into a stop sign post. Other dude managed to just steer clear of me sliding along, but he kindly did stop to help the old guy up. "I'm fine!" I say, getting up, brushing myself off, continuing on all wobbly to the post office. A half hour later, back at home, I'm feeling the effects of shock, and quite a lot of pain, fingers getting numb.

Boy oh boys, hurt myself pretty bad, right hand side, it's hanging kind of useless now... I had a bag of peas on it for an hour, took some ibuprofin. We'll see what it looks like later when the wife gets home. Stupid me. Riding like I'm 25 when I have no business doing that anymore. Think I might end up putting my arm into a sling here.

Anyway, couldn't do any table work all afternoon, but my arm is ok here on an armrest typing so, I took care of some bookwork, and finally got to adding the sound effects to my second spy theme called "Covert Ops."

This one has super fuzzed Bass, some tremolo guitar, some organ, vibes, and a synth chorus drone pad.

"COVERT OPS"
Round 7 "Spy Game" Modern Style

There are 62 different instances of sound effects, should have done another ten to make it right. I think the SFX are a bit loud in the final mix, but they are super important for this stuff too. I tried importing the video into reaper the add the sound effects but it kept crashing, and my cheap video edit program doesn't give me quite the finesse I want for ideal sound effects placement/levels.

But Man I love this Spy Game challenge. I wanna to make ten more!

This makes me whole for Round 7 - I'll take the two points, still not quite not enough to evict LiveEvil
but does get me to "Roller" status - these gals will take good care of me!

I hope you’re ok Brad.
Were you trying to do some spy stunts ala Tom Cruise MI series? Just to get you in the mood for your modern spy entry.

The modern spy theme is killer. Nice work Brad.
Keep ice on it to keep the swelling down get it checked out sooner than later. I had a similar thing happen to my shoulder and I toughed it out. Now I’m paying for it. My shoulder sounds like a stale bowl of rice crispies sometimes.

Damn dude. Were the straps ok?

Seriously though, that sucks man, glad you walked away from it on your own though.
The track is killer. Love the bass fuzz. That is still a tone that has eluded me.

I’m with you on 10 more spy tracks!

Sorry to hear about your injury Brad. I am not one to preach but a life lesson an old friend of mine used to bike a lot. The short story is a car pulled out in front of him. He said he got broke up pretty bad. It happened before I met him.

I know that from having injured my neck years ago, nerve damage tingling fingers is very difficult to overcome.

Loved the spy theme !

That’s scary stuff man. A few years back my dad was out for his daily walk when he slipped on some ice and bonked the back of his head. Luckily a neighbor saw it happen and dialed 91, because what he didnt tell any of us at the time was that he was paralyzed from the neck down for a few days after it happened. The swelling compressed his spinal cord.

A couple surgeries as lots of PT later he’s back to golfing and mowing the lawn and all that, but his hands and feet will never be quite the same. It can happen in an instant.

There’s nothing like having a male nursing student picking gravel out of the flesh of a leg, forearm, and hand from 3-4:30AM on a Sunday morning…only to find that the “extra mobility mode” you thought you had discovered in one of your knees by the side of that dark road a couple of hours back was not a new “feature”. You’re never too old for that kind of lesson…aaaah…the sound of blood soaked stone hitting the bottom of a kidney shaped stainless steel bowl brings me back…choruses of ”sorry” muttered by the dude wielding the tweezers, and peroxide, echoing along with each soggy clank. “Thankfully, he’s not counting them out loud…” It’s good to be alive.

Heal up Brad! Good job on the spy theme!

Well, I managed to get my shirt off, and axed my wife how swole I is, she says "Nada!" No apparent bruising, but to touch it in certain areas... no go. I've got one and a half I-boos in me... I managed to get my tee back on... with some cussin'. I guess I gotta apologize to y'all for making you submit soft core Porno.
I don't think nothin' busted but maybe rotator cuff. I think golf for the next month is done. Probably no kayak either. Crappy, because summers are too short up here. Thank you for the compliments on the track, advice and well-wishes.
Who's got stuff on the go for round seven? So glad to be done!

If you even for a moment think you messed up your shoulder. Go see the doctor. My dad had rotator surgery. Coworker just did. It’s not fun.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t stress it enough…shoulders and knees…teeth and eyes…keep them happy, and you have a chance at keeping happy too!

Unfortunately i have no easy way of syncing audio to video at the moment, so ...
start the video at about 2 measures into the audio track (and don't forget to mute
the sound on the video).

For this one i played my MüB Miezo 18/6 into the HX Stomp.
Miezo is an 18" scale 6 string octave bass tuned B - C.
It's small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of a plane and has enough
range that i can cover both bass and guitar parts fairly convincingly.
It's perfect for traveling undercover into dangerous situations.
