Announcing... RiffMasters!

OK my take on "Brimstone Gates" for the Hell's Muzak duel challenge by @ibmorjamn ... dude that's a greasy good riff, first off! at least once it kicks in... after that kooky whiplash intro... was that pleasure or pain? Can't tell.
Main riif tho?...It's got swagger, and maybe a little too much dirty joy in it. BUT, then you season that greasy base with a whole bunch of peppery whammy bar action, all the licks and whatnot...
fold in some kinda cringe bar work (just being honest), and then that speed picking later on LOL!!! enough good stuff in there to make you keep listening, but you finally feel relief like it's about to just end, but then that evil little downward roll thing comes in from out of nowhere and just draws a guy back in again. ...Well, I guess if there is a Hell for guitar players, having this on loop would suitable punishment

One more point for Jam, for a great Hell's Muzak track!

Honestly that riff on the outtro 2 bars half of is covered in whammy sauce. Lol but downward roll was hard to get a bass line to match it. That riff is my favorite part.
Thanks for listening. You can tell it's my style of playing.

Hopefully I’ll have my squeeky clean 6/8 song done tomorrow night. Gotta add some bass and a little more mixing. I think it sounds like surf, my wife says it sounds country. Not sure those go together so it’ll either be “interesting” or awesome

@Aynirar27 is first to complete RiffMasters Round Five! He dueled with great djunky pluck against a hardened warrior to eke out a win in "Hell's Muzak." He gave us a sensitive, soulful bed track augmenting the "Love Scene" action, even garnished it with Fran. He then brought us an upbeat Time Travel creating a clean melodic, reverb-drenched new genre: "Nashville Surf."
I'll tell you what... this here is a man on a mission! In a single round he's earned 18 (duel), plus minimum 7 (Main Event), PLUS 2 more for his time Travel Side hustle. 27 pts. for A-27!

Might be some kind of record. In a single round, he's leapfrogged his way into the fray as a serious contender.

But the most interesting feat here is the wide variety of tones and styles he's brought so ably to the table. What other fun tricks does he have up his sleeve? One to watch!

Thanks Brad!
I have to say, this has been the most guitar I've played in years. Probably since my daughters have been born. Having this "reason" to play is giving me the motivation I need to create something, instead of just sitting down and aimlessly plucking away (which is fine too) like I have been. Plus the inherent fun vibe of these "challenges" makes it that much more enjoyable. It feels really good. I might even smile in my next duel video....

I know I've said it before, but thank you guys for including me in the fun

From day one RiffMasters has been all about spurring new motivations to make music, enjoy some creative fun, and stretch ourselves a little. Sharing that adventure with others also strengthens our community. I'm grateful it has helped us welcome some new contributing members to TTR.

Again, I stress game points are far less valuable than the list of other real-life positives above. Those are far more rewarding prizes being earned.

And, once again, I raise the point ANY member, at ANY time, is 100% welcomed and encouraged to jump in to submit on any current challenge they'd like to take a shot at.

Be a player, not a spectator!
