Got mine in 1976, the bicentennial was a great year!
Chris, U wanna feel old? Once I was sitting next to a friend and his wife in church and somehow 1976 came up. I mentioned I had gone to Williamsburg for the Bicentennial then, when I was 12. She then said, " That is the year I was born."

Going to school in the Boston area in 1976, we got to do all the fun stuff for field trips like follow the Freedom Trail, go to Lexington-Concord, board Old Ironsides, and other fun stuff.

Spoil sports wouldn't let us have any fun. We wanted to toss the teacher in the Fort Point Channel.

HAHA when we were in Middle school, we had some awesome teachers, especially our Women phys ed teachers and even some of our teachers and coaches in high school. Some teachers took us to rock concerts, some let us have pickup games between boy's sports teams and the girls and stuff like that after school. How fun it was having the lady teachers be the Umpires and seeing if our Boys Lacrosse team could beat the girls Softball team with us batting opposite our natural batting side and stuff like that. Today, the teachers would likely cry foul with the union and claim they weren't getting paid to babysit, or be afraid of law suits or some bs like that.

I had some awesome teachers back then. Most were old hippies, and in it for the love of education. Especially the history and science teachers. Surprisingly, it was an English teacher who booked some of the best field trips, and he was in one of the Colonial Army re-enactment brigades. It was a fun time to grow up. You could still say to the science teacher "we're bored", and he'd draw the formula for LSD-25 on the blackboard, and then erase it while saying "I hope you were taking notes, otherwise you missed it."
