See, that's the thing with these riffs... they can't be too obscure, but also not too easy, I think I missed the target on that on.

That was the song that got me 'into' The Doors back in the day. Then I found so many other great songs of theirs but, being and having no Ray Mazarek, there are only a couple that we play; this and the Roadhouse Blues.

I'm not the fastest cat at the keys but I love driving out some good organ tones. This is actually a B3 sym to get the tonewheel sound a bit and another organ on top, pushed through a VOX AC15 to get some grit. Either it's going to leave you wondering what on Earth you just heard, or you know it instantly...

Thanks, it's not 'too far off', I'd say, though there was no Maestro fuzz, no Marshall Major, not even a Marshall at all. The overdriven church organ is a standard patch on my old Roland EM-10's. The faux Hammond is CollaB3 which, in a mix, does a good job overall. Used it for a lot of Beatles stuff and so on, too.

Folk that have been here awhile know this song well. Besides being one of Deep Purple's better songs, our very own Robert @inspector20 did a cover of it some years back.

You're missing an opening bracket for the embed to work, but I found the track on soundcloud - noice tones! It's a shame I missed Robert, he seemed like a cool guy with a down to earth attitude. It's hard to do Ian's vocals justice on that track, I know I couldn't.

I think my all time DP favorite is still Black Night, just such a lovely riff and groove but my drummer says he isn't quite ready to tackle it.
