AllParts Witch hats Don't Fit USA Gibson Pots:

I thought about that, but didn't want to risk damaging anything. Plus, the AllParts witch hats are too big around to work with my pointers.

So, I just bought a set of genuine Gibson silver-insert top hats....fit perfectly!!!!

Well played! I like the silver insert ones. Definitely better than the standard black ones that come with the SG Specials...

They come standard on the Epiphone '61 SG Special (50th Anniversary Model) and they look fantastic.
I was tempted to put witch hats on her, but I think the reflectors look the part.

Imagine the crazy looking contraption you could put together one day with all those parts

When I decided to close down my repair business, I found I had 40+ years of stuff, including a Fender body, vintage tuners and SCN pickups. I went with a dark visual theme. No kidding, I couldn't believe some of the stuff I've carried around for all these years. If I can figure out what the remaining (dozens) small parts came from, I'll put them up for offerings.

A 15/64" drill bit, turned by hand, turns fine spline knobs into 6mm 18 spline coarse for Bourns pots....IMG_20170227_11212.jpg

I bent the pointer fingers slightly outward to clear the larger Bitch Hats. These hats, from AllParts, are actually very well made. The numbers are stamped and can be seen coming through the back of the knob...

Same knobs as Angus' Back in Black SG - note Angus' use of Dunlop strap retainers...downloadfile-10.jpeg

Ok...so one of my students has got the volume knob loosened up on the spline on my SG. No big deal....but I want to fix it.

Remember this Gibson has Bourne pots, 6mm 18 spline coarse aluminium split shafts. I had modified a set of All Parts witch hats be enlarging the hole with a 13/64" drill bit.

Where can I get the correct witch hats?

I've fixed loose knobs like that with a dab of superglue wiped around the drilled out hole with a Q tip or match stick.
Let it dry thoroughly then install the knob. Repeat if needed.
It's gonna be a crapshoot and more frustration on your part finding the "right" ones.

Thanks for the tip!

I actually found a set on E-Bay made for the Bourne 6mm x 18 spline coarse aluminium split shaft pots!

The only "problem" is they have gold letters, but I can live with that...
