Found, to my disappointment, my AllParts Witch Hats fall right off the shafts on both my 2016 SG and 2017 Les Paul Tribute pot shafts...part numbers PK-3242-023/PK-3244-023 are said to be for USA split shafts, but fall right off.

Disappointing....

That's a shame. i purchased witch hats from an Australian on-seller of Allparts parts a couple of years ago for my 2010 Special Faded and they fit perfectly. Not sure of the part numbers now but they were the only witch hats tagged as suitable for Gibsons on the site at the time.
Hope you sort it out.

I have a growing container of brand new stuff I can't use...LOL

BGood is correct. There are 2 types of knobes: metric (or course splines), and fine spline. Some knobs can be universal. I bought the Gibson witch hat knobs, no problem. Of course, it can be hard when buying online.

There are also smooth ones with a screw on the side.

Have you tried widening the split shaft? Or is it the wrong spline type?
I know Dan Erlewine uses a small piece of masking tape. He wraps it over the split shaft I think once, then pushes the knobs on. Couldn't hurt to try I guess, just don't use too much force or better still hold the back of the pot while you're doing it.

I thought about that, but didn't want to risk damaging anything. Plus, the AllParts witch hats are too big around to work with my pointers.

So, I just bought a set of genuine Gibson silver-insert top hats....fit perfectly!!!!

Good information!

I ordered the AllParts witch hats for USA style pots, but they may have been packaged wrong/mislabeled????
