In keeping with the high energy, one take concept, I want to get an opinion from a different set of ears.
I cut 4 rhythm tracks on the original recording. Each follows the same machine gun style rhythm line. Left/right channel low octave and left/right channel high octave.
During playback - as this was cut in the wee hours after a lengthy session for hire - I noticed a timing error in the low octave rhythm parts. While it doesn't sound bad in the overall mix, it still bugged me, so I deleted both tracks.
However, I'm not sure the recording actually sounds better without the heavy, dissonant tracks.
Kerp in mind, these tracks have not been mastered yet, so volume and mix quality is all over the place. Please only judge the overall quality/feel based on the machine gun rhythm sections.
Here's the version with the high/low rhythm tracks:
Ace Of Spades
And this version with drums and bass brought forward in the mix and only the high octave tracks remaining:
VON HERNDON - ACE OF SPADES - READY TO MASTER
Thanks...
