A project for ONLY the Brave of Heart

Despite of that i dreamt of repairing the guitar - fill the cuts with a strong and dark wood like Ebony or Katalox and maybe those in the neck with a strong mahogany like wood like Machiche, give it a thick fingerboard of Katalox or Ebony. That neck would be stronger than it ever was. Give it a finish of red Shellac or alcoholic laquer (since NC is not available in sufficient quality any more).

Now, if we all chipped in $20 each then Bea could have that guitar and do a fantastic photothread rebuild!

Whatever that person was drinking when they hit the bid button on that husk... I want some...

I'm still trying to figure out why the original owner took a saw to the body..."I wonder how I'm going to get those pickups out... damn I wish I knew where I put my screw driver. Oh well, more than one way to skin a cat."

Maybe he used some drugs which made him aggressive.

Mhmm, there was also a badly broken headstock which could probably not simply be glued anymore.

The pictures gave no idea wether that break was older than the destruction or not. And did You notice that the fingerboard had been cleanly removed?

Yea, I definitely did... which only raises more questions! Such as, WHY?! Whoever did that had to of known some luthier knowledge... I get the original owner wanted to yank out the pups to make a quick buck as well as some of the hardware, but the fretboard? And if he knew how to remove the fretboard all nice like that, then why hack at the body? Unless you are on the money about drugs causing him to want to be destructive... other wise I'd have to point my finger at the seller of being the one to remove the fretboard.

There's got to be more to the story. I'm intrigued and a little bit horrified which is just fueling my curiosity... sad thing is I genuinely want answers that I know I'll never get..

All the hardware could have been removed easily without destroying the guitar.

Removing the fretboard might have been an option to allow international shipping - deal with CITES restrictions. BTW, it is a necessity if You want to replace the trussrod, and because of the frets it is also necessary if You want to cut the neck along its axis.

I still do not understand this destruction - that plain body might have been sold for the same price if it was undestroyed.

My guess is he bought the serial....

Buy an Epiphone, refinish it...put the Gibson serial number on it....likely possibility.
