a messy mesa up

Maybe as band research you should lock yourself in your office there-- with your guitar and the recordings of KISS and Mahogany Rush and Aerosmith and several others (Rush I think you listed) and listen to all of their works.......(if time is an issue -- focus on the 70's early 80's stuff only)

I would think a post Nuclear nomadic drifter WOULD have these tunes in his mental data log from his youth prior to the apocalypses and would effed from them for inspiration.....with , songs like this traversing his brain and ringing in his ear as he is trudging across the waste land.....

This is sound advice. You may be shocked how much your favorite bands ripped off from them! Whether people want to accept it or not, any hard rock/metal band formed after 1975 was influenced, directly or indirectly, by Kiss. And a lot of those guys from later bands in the '80's, '90's and beyond are vocal fans of Kiss - Dime was buried in a freaking Kiss casket for chrissakes! In my opinion, any fan of this music (hard rock and metal) needs to understand the source code that was provided by bands like Kiss, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Uriah Heep, UFO, Judas Priest, Scorpions...etc and should be familiar with their catalogs.

YEAH! What he said---- :)

This was the beginning of stage pyrotechnics and "Giving the Audience a BIG SHOW" not just standing on stage in nice sweater from Mum and wailing on a guitar

when you left a KISS concert--- you knew it!!!!

Ha ha... I think it was 1975: I was 16 > L.A. Forum > Front row, dead center > Tix: $30/each > Opening band: Cheap Trick

$30 was stupid money for a concert back then. Most of the arena shows I saw in the mid '70's cost anywhere from $5 to $10 (Capital Centre in Largo, MD or Baltimore Civic Center). That was for huge bands like Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Black Sabbath, Foghat...

He did say FRONT ROW Center ---- at the L.A. FORUM-- in Californication---- I am sure the Republic of Cali got about 15.00 of that in taxes.......safety fees--- argon gas refinery fee and pollution control fees....flame thrower usage fees.....etc etc -- oh and the Jerry Brown I want your $$$ because I said so fund....

I know the rest of the country has that perception, but I grew up in the D.C. area and I can tell you it is no cheaper to live in suburban MD or Northern VA than it is in LA. And I get over 300 days of sunshine a year thrown into the deal living here

Anyway, was just saying I think Kiss was charging a premium for their show at the time.

Just remember that this was 1975. Whole world was different. California was crazy back then, but not insane, like it is now... ha ha!

The $30 tix was bought from a ticket scalping agency in downtown L.A. I think the original price of the tix, FRONT ROW DEAD CENTER, was $15!
