A crazy day but a good ending ( so far)

Ive been having to work 5 days a week in Charleston, Wv ( 110miles round trip) vs my usual 4 days a week within 3 miles. The company is a piece of poop (they dont reimburse my fuel like they do for others, parking meters tolls etc) but thats another story. I have to park across the street in a municipal garage, carrying a lil over 100lbs worth of tools and ride the elevator down and walk across the street.

Today was very bad traffic coming in and i rushed to get onsite to not be late. It was pouring the rain and i grabbed my gear to make my trek. Once across the street i noticed my wallet wasnt on me and assumed that i had left it in my truck. At 8am, my wife calls and says " hey did you lose your wallet?" I said its not on me, why? " a woman just messaged me on Facebook and found mine and your name by looking up your license, said a worker of hers found it in the garage". I got in contact with her, turns out she worked at a restaurant around the corner and sure enough a worker of her's found and it held onto it. I went in and thanked them dearly and left.

But as I left, i figured the right thing to do was go back and give a reward as a thank you, to both of them. I didn't have cash in the wallet so I hit an ATM nearby and walked back in to give them the money. She refused and said " No, thats not necessary" but i insisted out of decency. So she agreed to take the money but only give it to the worker who found it ( which was nice of her).

They saved my ass more ways than one and heres why:
1) my fuel light came on when i pulled in this morning and theres no way i wouldve made it home with that amount of gas ( again, no money if the wallet was gone)
2) in that garage are lots of degenerates who sit in the stairwell, that drink and smoke up all day ( they would NOT have returned it)
3) in the mix of all this, i almost forgot to pay the meter. I got my wallet and ran back to my truck, while the meter cop was 2 cars away. I narrowly avoided a second ticket

So there's good people in this world: thank you Kimberlee and Hunter!

sounds very stressful day, glad you found your wallet. when you are stressed that's when things go from poop to diarrhea...

Nice story with a good ending.

Many years ago around 1973, I had a big block Camaro and would hit the speed shops every now and then. After one trip buying parts, when I got home, no wallet, ugh. No idea where I might have lost it. Had to get a new drivers license. About 2 months later I was back at the speed shop and the guy behind the counter recognized me. Says, a traveling salesman was in last week (remember no internet back then), and said he found this wallet in the parking lot as he was leaving last time he was here! I had no phone number in the wallet but the license had my picture on it and he recognized me from that. All $20 some dollars were there too! I couldn’t believe it.

That is 1 in a billion isnt it? Lol a good person to do that too

It was a different world in 1973. I would have been 7. I can remember walking downtown by myself and going to The Pub and sitting at the bar with the old guys having a beer at 11 in the morning. For context I would have been drinking an orange Nesbitt and my grandpa owned the bar. Still, wouldn't happen today.

WE used to go to the West END bar and pizza ...for lunch in high school (we were allowed to leave "open lunch" for lunch) we shot pool -- smoked cigs... ate pizza and were the owners ( a very nice italian woman named Marry) ONLY mid day lunch "rush" -- me and a freidn also delivered pizza in the evening for the PIZZA side
had a cigarette machine in the bar.....
and rum (in the store room) we snuck in our cokes ;)

life was way laid back and easier back then .....................

Yep. Walking Main Street with the buddies wearing Levi's jean jackets because you could fit a 6 pack in those inner pockets.
