Ambassador of STACKS in WV SHACKS
Ive been having to work 5 days a week in Charleston, Wv ( 110miles round trip) vs my usual 4 days a week within 3 miles. The company is a piece of poop (they dont reimburse my fuel like they do for others, parking meters tolls etc) but thats another story. I have to park across the street in a municipal garage, carrying a lil over 100lbs worth of tools and ride the elevator down and walk across the street.
Today was very bad traffic coming in and i rushed to get onsite to not be late. It was pouring the rain and i grabbed my gear to make my trek. Once across the street i noticed my wallet wasnt on me and assumed that i had left it in my truck. At 8am, my wife calls and says " hey did you lose your wallet?" I said its not on me, why? " a woman just messaged me on Facebook and found mine and your name by looking up your license, said a worker of hers found it in the garage". I got in contact with her, turns out she worked at a restaurant around the corner and sure enough a worker of her's found and it held onto it. I went in and thanked them dearly and left.
But as I left, i figured the right thing to do was go back and give a reward as a thank you, to both of them. I didn't have cash in the wallet so I hit an ATM nearby and walked back in to give them the money. She refused and said " No, thats not necessary" but i insisted out of decency. So she agreed to take the money but only give it to the worker who found it ( which was nice of her).
They saved my ass more ways than one and heres why:
1) my fuel light came on when i pulled in this morning and theres no way i wouldve made it home with that amount of gas ( again, no money if the wallet was gone)
2) in that garage are lots of degenerates who sit in the stairwell, that drink and smoke up all day ( they would NOT have returned it)
3) in the mix of all this, i almost forgot to pay the meter. I got my wallet and ran back to my truck, while the meter cop was 2 cars away. I narrowly avoided a second ticket
So there's good people in this world: thank you Kimberlee and Hunter!
