If you need it for the material you're doing I say go for it. I actually had a BC Rich ST3 in the late '80's because I needed a Floyd to pull off half the songs we were doing back then (it was when I was still gigging for money so had to play mostly covers). That was a pretty killer guitar actually: it had the Floyd and Dimarzio something or others from the factory, a total hard rock machine. Looked like this one:
