4th build

^ lovely guitar, but not sure about the b&w picture.

With the Union Jack, I think the Who is a given.

Black and white pic with No Bollocks scrawled across it?

The RAF Roundels along with The Who were on the top of my list, disrespect for HRH such as "No Bollocks" across her image is a non starter.
Given the negative vibe for the old photo of HRH I think we have a winner. I'll give HRH another try, this time with a water slide, the ink ran yet again in the one above.
What I particularly like about applying a photo of HRH is the casual viewer doesn't know if I'm a Royalist or a Piss-taker.

Very nice symmetry!

Thanks Robert, that's like looking at a painting and saying "I like the frame" haaa haaa.
Regardless, if that isn't what you were saying I'll take the "symmetry" comment as a positive.

Actually I'm slightly in your camp and can also be a bit OCD. When laying it out Mrs Gasket said, "Get on with it, it's the back, people won't see it". That was grounds for divorce :-(

It's a compliment of the highest order. I frequently see the Union Jack done in wrong proportions, crooked, etc., and what jumped out at me - about your work - was the symmetry. The color choices and sharp edges are also impressive.

I'm an oddball, of that I am quite sure. As a result - in person anyways - I am very quiet and say little to keep from saying what's in my head, which quite often comes out wrong.

Asperger's Syndrome isn't easy to deal with....

Just a perfect rock 'n punk guitar.

That is a great old school symbol. I like the old school american military symbol with the star.

Thanks again Robert. The Union Flag or "Union Jack" is regularly butchered so I found a good reference to work from ...

Used a soft pencil to trace the reverse image onto tissue paper and then rubbed the design onto the clean white guitar ...

MONUMENTAL STUFF UP!!!

Today just back from the printers with the makes for a water-slide transfer of HRH when my son and his kids arrive. Kids go for a swim, my boy and I crack a beer and I show him how to make a water-slide transfer from laser jet print image. He's moderately impressed so in my enthusiasm I press on and apply finished item to the guitar.
Bells ringing but I don't hear them, it took ages to dry and the top surface wasn't as smooth as previous similar work done, hmmm.
Bell still ringing, a little ink came off the "top" of the transfer but not enough to worry me, hmmm.
Later in the day I apply a light coat of poly to the back of guitar to seal the water-slide in, slight fluffy surface but no problem I can sand it into a smooth finish.
3 hours later I apply a second poly coat for good measure and decide in two days I'll get into the 2,000 wet & dry, it will be great when finished.
Just now I look at a photo I took tonight and a photo of my first mock up.
Bells ringing and now I hear them ... I applied the water-slide upside down :-(
Will decide tomorrow if I'll strip back to white paint and start again or continue with it with reverse image.
I'm a di*k head!!!

As it is now in front of my PC with correct presentation on screen.

Is the surface the same on either side so that it is just visual, or is that the reason it was not staying down? If it is just visual, leave it. It is a great Peter Green type story!!

It's well attached, all good there. The issue (and small at that) is the water-slide transfer is clear packing tape with a laser print photo transferred the sticky side, the paper is rubbed away while in a water bath leaving the print on ONE side of the tape. I've put the smooth (un-printed) side down and ink side up resulting in what was when wet invisible paper residue standing up on the surface. 2,000 wet & dry with more poly build up's will fix it, I'm just a di*k :-(
Another disappointment is the great looking snow white colour has taken on a cream look under the poly. The up side is the cream looks retro like the deliberate sanding through of some of the blue and red.
I did say these projects start with a plan that MUST be fluid, they often end up way different from that original plan. It's some strange kind of living art, some art works some is rubbish.

Nice work. As for the water-slide, just claim it's a left handed guitar :pound-hand:

If you look at it from the front "Clark Kent" style it is the correct way around, as is the Union Flag.

FYI, when at school we were told it is "The Union Flag" not "Union Jack". Only called a Union Jack when flown on a Royal Navy ship. That ends the useless information lesson for today :-)

gasket here in Canada it was always known to us as the Union Jack, interesting.

Everything is looking Great! I like the guitar with the Union Jack, as you know we have a long history with it here in Canada. Love the headstock!!
