I'm a thinking only very "slightly patriotic", me, 5 generations back English convicts exported to Van Diemen's Land but since then all Australian.
This project is about tribute to British 60's rock!!!
I'm considering a list of 60's band names on the back, we have the super obvious ...

So...what you’re saying is...it’s not supposed to be a stylized representation of this eight-way intersection in Paris?

I mean, it’s not like I was thinking that or anything...heavens no!

Well done you rumbled me, I threw in the "tribute to British 60's rock" comment to get you all off track.
Can't get anything past Smitty :-(
 
It looks rubbish just now. After paint has hardened I'll use a blade to scrape some of the mess and then get into sanding with wet and dry. Finish off with 8 or 10 coats of poly. Still have reasonable hopes for a good result.

The back will get some heavy sanding to remove most of the blue and red then put some kind of feature in the middle.
