2017 SG Special MINIHUMERS

the bridge pup exhibits LESS (arrow pointing to it) and the neck MORE -- but BOTH exhibit it

Back up a second...

Not really related to your issue, but are you saying the circled pot that also has the arrow pointing to one of the terminals controls your bridge pickup?

That pot should control your neck, unless you’ve purposely changed it, for some reason.

Your arrow points to what looks like a potential poor solder joint.

But, maybe that’s just the way it looks in the pic.
Yep. But since I’m not there to change the angle of the photo, or probe around, I have to ask.
And since I’m horrible at wording my questions, and I can’t draw an arrow to convey direction...
That lug on the volume pot would normally be tied to ground. IIRC(in a traditional harness)

those are Humbucking pickups... they should be silent. Mine are.
If they are making a hum, something is wrong in your wiring.

Like Don says, prolly a ground fault.

I hope you don't find this shocking...

My 2012 SG has traditional wiring, no PCB.

And the neck is the worst of the humming pickups?
If you plug the guitar in, and recreate the hum by turning the neck volume knob appropriately, with the control cover off, if you tap that pot(or push on it with, like, a pencil-the eraser end)...does the hum change for better or worse?

er ------uhm..........

hooold on gotta set my bass down.....................

pencil wtf is that -----

pressing on it with a wooden object makes no difference -- touching with my finger DOES -- total silence

yes-- I tried all 4 --
the one with the arrow and the other three---with the wooden object and with ---well we will call it my finger--- and same result---
"finger" -- silence (except the tone pot for neck pup that hum got LOUDER ) ------the rest quieter with finger-- no change with "wooden object"

So...it sounds like the pots are solidly connected to the ground plane...except maybe something is up with the neck tone pot. Do all of the solder joints look ok on the neck tone pot?
I see that you have 4 wire pickups...can you unplug, and re-plug each of the connectors to verify that each is connected properly and solidly?(not that that is logical at all, just curious)

You may have to.....GULP......SOLDER!
I would reflow anything that doesnt look smooth and shiny and then all if that doesnt do it.
check the jack joints, pull it out if you cant see it.

Make sure the iron is hot enough to melt quickly and get out as soon as the joint puddles.

I didn’t want to have to type that out loud. Thanks man!
