LOVE this SG -- 24 frets-- vintagie square fret markers (like me les paul recording) --
but WOW them minihums are HOT !!! -- this is a true wolf in sheeps clothing --but--

when I want to ROLL back on the Volume and TAME the savage beast the HUUUUMMMMMM from the pups is CRAZY loud
when using 1 pup (doesnt matter which) vol on 10 let go the strings-- quiet-- back volume to 8 CRAZY HUUUM

thoughts?

no shielding in it AT ALL--
has the PCB board ....

Would love something with mini's in it. Got my heart set on a late '70's Deluxe but haven't found the right one at the right price.

I haven’t had a problem with my only circuit board Gibson yet.
Sounds like a ground issue to start with.
Does it have push pull for coil tapping? I don’t remember them doing that with the mini Hums though....
Can you post a pic of the control cavity? Preferably something well focused on the molex connectors for the pickups...they have done both two, and four wire quick connects.

those are Humbucking pickups... they should be silent. Mine are.
If they are making a hum, something is wrong in your wiring.

Like Don says, prolly a ground fault.

I hope you don't find this shocking...

My 2012 SG has traditional wiring, no PCB.

No pickups are 100% immune to hum. It sounds like they are picking up something from the environment to me.

mostly dogs and critters here--------

other humbuckers are totally silent

I would first suspect ground issue as well but have not experienced those specific symptoms.
I do notice slight difference in hum / noise in different pot ranges, but more so under a lot of gain and noisy One Spot power.

It is junk send it to @eSGEe for proper disposal!
Oh, wait it's yours!! could not resist.

since wide open very little signal goes to ground then when you start shunting some signal to ground the ape sh*tting starts, that would be what leads me to grounding issue first.

OR goats, goat bleating is creating oscillations.

are you suggesting the bare wire touching the pot could be the issue?
Nope! Hahahahahaha!
That’s a shoddy arrow, hand drawn by me, pointing the other way....at the solder joint for that pot.
If you tap that pot while it’s set up to hum(particularly the lug that the crap arrow is pointing at) does the hum change?

Your arrow points to what looks like a potential poor solder joint.

But, maybe that’s just the way it looks in the pic.

the bridge pup exhibits LESS (arrow pointing to it) and the neck MORE -- but BOTH exhibit it
