2016 Gibson 50's Tribute Les Paul

One thing for sure...I want to keep the stock Gibson knobs...maybe I can ream them a bit to fit the Bourne pots???

I didn't care too much for it. Needed fret work, wiring replacement, and the satin gold top looked cheesy to me in person.

Like most current Gibson's in the lower range, it was a great platform if you wanted to start putting cash into modding it...

That's what I am doing....Gibson Burstbuckers, 50's Harness....11 feet of copper tape...Norlin ashtray...

@Don O - don't know why stuff like this pops up in my head, but your phrase turned into this:

If ya don’t know where you’re going, then any road will get you there.

If evil seeds you're sowing, then into nothing goes your share,

It's not the light that blinds you, in quiet anonymity,

The road that leads to nowhere, is the safest place to be...

That's how song writing starts.....

Here's what I'm looking at for the 50's Tribute:

I will likely be using different caps, but I like the mounting plate arrangement and the Gibson pots...

I generally look around when I'm on a road and go well that sucks, but hey that is cool, and throw in a couple way-dude and coooooolllllll's just in time for another well that sucks to pop back up. Seems like all the roads have those parts in common (but, I guess some more that others) - lol...

Is there any reason for the mounting plate other than it providing easy installation of the whole harness? My Les Paul has a similar looking contraption.

The old Gibson's had a similar arrangement. My mom's 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom has the same plate and a cover that screws onto it - completely shielding everything.

Someone upgraded the tuners on this guitar, removing the Gibson Green Keys. Thankfully, they used a key that uses the original screw spacing.

The original Gibson Green Keys are included. I love them. I have them on all my Gibson's and never have a tuning problem....even put them on my double neck.

Never ever understood locking tuners, although I put them on my Von Herndon prototypes because people love them...

I have locking tuners on the Fugly tele (in the pic to the left) and had them on a Gibson SG future tribute - I really liked them; just so easy and quick to change strings. I prefer the look of the traditional Kluson green keys though.

I made Schaller's standard equipment on all the Von Herndon's

But Green Keys are my personal preference..
