2016 Gibson 50's Tribute Les Paul Gold Top - First Report:

Its faster to set to a specification than to set by feel....but however you prefer is ok. Contrary to what people will tell you, there is no one way to do a setup...what works for you is a great method... :)

Hmmm...not so sure about that, at least not for me - If the nut is correctly cut and the intonation is right I think it's a matter of feel more than anything else. I used to set all my guitars to "factory spec" as a starting point and adjust to taste from there. I spent just as much time as I do now just noodling with the bridge height while I play until it "feels" right. No two guitars are the same and I play some higher than others. I also tend to like little or no relief in the neck as I think they both play and sound better, which runs contrary to most setup recommendations.

Sounds like a great setup method, Gball. I also have to consider teaching someone else, at least at some point, to do setup the way I want it done and its easier to teach specifications than feel and subjectivity...
