Youre 100% right in that, that applies to the later 1970 models. There is a weird point between Made in USA and NOT having the Volute and its a very brief few months of production. By the end of 1970, they all had volutes and made in USA. Which by its serial number, in the 900000 range, this is kinda leaning on the later part of the year as that range of serial numbers extended to 1972 due to slower sales, but possible to be that weird pre volute issueFrom what I've read, seen, heard over the years... it would be late '70 if it has "Made In USA." That was the same time they introduced the volute on the back of the headstock to prevent breakage. But, you never know with Gibson.
