Proco Rat build

You are going to build a Rat with this switchable feature?
Well you talked me into it Sysco, I've ordered all the circuit components & hardware, including a 1590BB enclosure, should be here mid next week & I'll have at it. Normal Rat with a footswitchable ground lift on the positive clipper. Of course I'll encorporate the presence control, not yet sure whether to add a toggle for mild assymetrical clipping or not.
I ordered a new production LM308 that I'll put in my old Rat build, then donate it to a buddy who likes it but has been doing it a bit hard financially of late. Cheers

Ok, so all the components, enclosure & hardware for this Rat build arrived during the week. I ordered a black powder coated 1590BB so I can put the two footswitched on it without them being crammed up. This afternoon I got it all marked out & center-punched ready for drilling. The circuitry will be point to point on perfboard, same as the last one I did. I'll get a few pics up as building progresses. Cheers

How are you going with the post over there Ivan? Here in Adelaide it's a bit hopeless. Actually the worst case was my mate Justin at Derringers walked to the Rundle Mall post office and posted a tuner for me the Thursday before Easter, and it still hasn't moved as far as the Parcel Sorting Centre, let alone arrived out here in McLaren Vale. From Melbourne is even better than Rundle Mall. Sydney and Canberra are very slow though. Basically any time something has to go through NSW it's a wait, even without all this happening.

This order (from pedal parts) only took 3 days to arrive, but I paid the extra few bucks for it to be sent express. Other stuff isnt so good. I had a package arrive from the UK this week that took a month to get here. A package I sent to the Sunshine coast recently took over two weeks to arrive where usually it takes around four days, so yes, it's pretty messed up. Hope your tuner arrives soon. Cheers

Oh a friend in the USA bought a book from Book Depository to thank me for something, he placed an order on April 1 and it's still "processing", presumably because they were waiting to fill one of their bulk shipping containers (which they used to do every couple of days) and send it air freight. There are just very few flights out of the UK to Australia at the moment, and people have stopped ordering from the UK due to slow post. Could take absolutely ages to get here

I'm still waiting for a couple of orders from the UK, placed around the same time as the one that arrived during the week. Best not to hold my breath. A lot of the NOS components I use in my Marshall type builds originate from the UK. The next thing will be items getting lost during shipping due to all this. Cheers
Edit,:
I just ordered a set of Faber locking tailpiece studs from Ultra Technologies (not sure where they're situated). He got them into the post last Friday morning, not sent express either. We'll see how long they take to arrive. Cheers

That's the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. About 3 hours north along the coast from us. Beautiful part of California. Lots of eye candy!!!

A good friend of mine used to live in Santa Cruz. I loved walking down to the beach and the boardwalk during the day while he was at work. Then at night, I could be his guest on his show on KZSC. Now, he's moved back to Minneapolis.

Well, the Faber tailpiece studs just arrived, surprisingly. They were sent express, but Ultra Technologies must be located somewhere in NSW to get here that quickly. Cheers

That tuner still hasn't moved since Justin dropped it off at the Rundle Mall PO. Got some other stuff today and the stuff from the ACT seems to be moving (everything from Canberra seems to go via Sydney at the moment) but that tuner is still saying Thu 9 Apr 'We've got it' ...

Do you mean Ultra-Tech Electronics? They're in NSW

Australia Post tracking is hopeless, Ive found that they don't often update tracking as packages move toward the destination. Hopefully your tuner arrives soon.

Yes, that would be them, I just checked the package, shows them as Ultra Technologies, French's Forest, NSW. Cheers

After all these years, I'm just now waking up to the Rat pedal and its virtues. This is an amazing sounding pedal so far. Can't wait to try it out at my good friend's next jamfest.

You have that most infuriating of pedals, the Katzonkonig, too, so can you make it sound like a rat?

I have no Katzonkonig. The only real Rat I've ever tried was my friend's semi-old Rat thru his amp (an old Fender Blues Deville), and his guitars. The combination sounded awesome and inspiring. This lead me to put together a Rat clone kit from BYOC, and the results are rewarding. However, you just gave me the idea to ask my friend if I can try his old Rat with my stuff, and compare the two.

With this I just measured & marked it all out, center-punched then drilled it out with a power drill (usually drill press, but not this time). I fitted most of the hardware components last night

Won't be long before it's completed. Thanks for talking me into doing this Sysco. Cheers
