The last day of my 3 day weekend, and the sun finally comes out to play!
So I’m spending a good part of it with Old Blue.

Got a fancy new umbrella too.

Three hours in, and ready to foil...

Temps are running a little high, but fairly stable...

Mmmmmmmmm.....here we go again!

Looking good TBD.

So what are you using for temp gauge? Do you use an app? That graph is really cool.

I use a Maverick redi-check two channel remote wireless with receiver. For the grill.

And for the meat I use a Thermoworks Thermapen instant read. My favorite tool for all cooking and grilling.

I use an iGrill...Bluetooth therm. It links with my phone, or iPad. It has space for 4 probes. I mostly use 1 ambient, and occasionally 1 or 2 meat probes. It’s ok as long as I’m in range. The graphs are awesome though. For instance today, it was running smoothly so I went to the local hardware store to grab an umbrella, and base...when I returned, I had a record of what occurred while I was away. Great for piece of mind.
I might look in to a Thermoworks Smoke, and gateway set up, if I can wreck the iGrill ever. It runs via WiFi to an app...anywhere you have a signal, you can check temp.

Mavericks are awesome though! Reliable as can be.

You mean you dont have to sit for hours watching it----- you can just WONDER OFF and check via bluetoothie wifi magic wizardry?????
Bluetooth range is short. If I go out(today was the first time I’ve gone away further than the convenience store next to my house) I CAN leave a device in range, and check the graph when I get back. It won’t fix anything for me, but I have a record, so if I need to make adjustments...I can.
Today, I left for 25 minutes...came back...temperature had held pretty steady.

A temperature drop at 5:30 when I unfoiled....and another at 6:00 when I hit them with a glaze of what was in the foil....
Probably done now, but I want the glaze to set a little longer.

LOL and I still rub 2 sticks together and get a spark for my tinder to ignite and then pile up sticks till I get the flame a rollin.

All the electronics do is tell me the temperature. I do the rest myself. Start a little bit of charcoal in a chimney with newspaper or something. Everything is manual about the smoker. Heck! All it is is an old Weber Kettle.

I made some ribs a few days back on my new Broil King I have to admit they were good. Now that we are in Spring now with summer temps and summer coming in a few weeks, for sure its BBQ time yahoo!
