Jangly/Twang 'G' String:

This has again started on my Double Neck. Very loud jangly/overtone on the 'g' only - fretted or open - Sitar-like in nature.

Moved string out of saddle and inspected groove. Added strip of paper to saddle a nut groove - no change.

Dropped bridge pickup a lot - no change.

Checked intonation - dead on 1st through 12th fret.

Redressed nut slot floor - no change.

Taped off strings behind nut and bridge - no change.

No loose screws or hardware.

No 'warble' when intonating...

What about the length of string between the bridge and stoptail? Have you tried dampening it? And have you tried changing the string?

Changing string has no effect...

I considered neck pickup magnetic pull, but there's no oscillation.

Did you measure it. I have G string trouble on my Casino. I got a few badly cut nuts and that will be my Mother's Day night thing. I have two out 6 that a drunken monkey must have cut. The other 4 I put on friends guitars. I will not be looking for and surprise parties this year again.

Mysterious indeed!

Yes. It's only present when amplified. It's present fretted or open. It persists with everything on the guitar taped off, string swap, bridge swap, intonation perfect on a strobe tuner....strange indeed!!!

Funny...when I put an .018" wound 'g' on it, the noise stopped altogether, but the .018w is a bit heavy for bends, so I found some .016" and .017" wounds to try out...
