Car Shopping

I used to love cars.
Now I hate them.
Cant afford something new and the more recent used cars have all the fancy extra crap that break down by the time they get to us, power windows, stupid million engine sensors, extra chip ignition key cost $80. even the hvac units to switch the air to defrost or floor, etc.
Oh and some arrogant A-hole took a whole generation of used cars out of the market to prompt those who can afford new to buy them to save the US auto industry.
the clunkers were supposed to be crushed/ recycled but persistent rumors suggest many got sold out the back door off continent on container ships to boot.
Working man is the forgotten man I tell ya.
Least we can buy cheap Asian guitars; for now at least.

Sorry for the rant; trying to keep my 2001 Jeeps road worthy, mostly so my wife can get to work and back, sometimes after midnight.

JT, I was seething at that pompous, no good, doo gooder, who trashed a whole slew of good "clunkers" that we poor people could fix up each time I'd go to junk yards to hunt for parts. I would see the evidence of the death knell on far too many nice looking vehicles. The hoods would be up, an empty bottle of engine killer under the hood, and spray painted X's would denote the murder had happened. The worst part was my tax dollars was paying some richer person than me $3000-$4000 towards a new car if I remember right.

Sorry to hijack, and dont want to steer things into a discussion on the thing Chili and I touched on in your thread Grant.
Vehicles are just on of many things that have become more expensive faster than working class pay; we will be swallowed up into the welfare class eventually.

Yeah, I won't hijack either. Only to say I really do like my older than 1990 or even older than 1985 cars and trucks so much, I try to drive each one as far in excess of 300,000 miles as possible before needing to acquire another couple hundred dollar replacement unit.

My latest blessing has been my newish 1994 F150 that a friend's dad basically gifted to me for a whopping $1. Before that, it was my awesome $200 '83 Honda.
Now I know California has expensive laws and expensive costs of livings, so I might be unrealistic. If I were in your shoes G,,,,,, I'd be hunting a sub $1000 car or an engine for the ruined one or both.

Cooking show Chili, though a young Bo Derek beats a cute but frumpy Rachel Ray most every time.
EVOO = Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

You got that right.
butter my biscuits, mmmm-hhmmm yessir.

Along similar lines, while home sick on the couch a few weeks ago, i watched the 1976? ish King Kong.
Dat Jessica Lange bangs my gong.

I see, G. I have never even seen any EVO 1-1000000's,,, Must be a California type car.

Now that I researched this, I found out an Evo is really a Lancer which I have heard of in addition to Mirages, Eclipses etc. I've never really known any Evo owners or seen one in person due to my eye being drawn mostly to awesome old cars still on the road instead of new, expensive hard to fix kinds.
