Anvil Case Restoration for Les Paul's

It killed me for years knowing how beautiful my case was when I bought it and then a few years went by and I could feel the foam going to goo under the original velvet. Having had the foam prepped and ready also fueled my burning to get it done. Now flash forward to Tuesday when I got finished my job estimate and before making the 35 minute drive home, decided to go to the Michael's Arts and Crafts store. The rest of the story goes, I walk around the whole store and not seeing any fabric anywhere except some little squares of felt. Upon not finding it, I explain to a nice lady employee what I am after. She tells me if they have it, it is on the back wall under the yarn sign. To me, this is the miracle of miracles. They actually had 2 colors, Black and Red and by memory, the red was actually as nearly a perfect match as would do a fine job.

Now just for reference,,,,,, I asked that same lady where else might have a larger piece than their stock prepackaged size of it. She pointed me to Joann Fabrics. So, my next stop was Joann which it turns out has multiple types of velvet, and multiple shades of red in huge rolls of the stuff. Bottom line is the Michaels red was the Shiz,,,,,,,,,,,,, the Joann Reds were all different hues which weren't even close.

So without much else to say, I can just say I am very happy for my LP to have it's 5 Star Hotel type case, and I appreciate all your interest and comments. Thanks everybody.

You guys may not believe this, but when my sweety and I went out for dinner and then figured we'd go to Walmart for red thread to sew parts of the velvet together, we get to the right aisle and see numerous shades of red. She asks me what shade I need. I saw the perfect shade.

Guess what it is called?

"Chilipepper" HAHAHAHAHA NO way, But Yup it was meant to be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
