But you do get the point...I like the Strat shape and comfort factor, but everything else has to go...although I like the six inline keys better...

Y'know, I find SG's infinitely more comfortable to play than Strats. From the shape to the set neck to the lower weight to the scale. If they had the giant floor-dragging balls that Les Pauls do in the tone department they'd be all I would play. And I get confounded by 6 in-line headstocks. Too many years playing 3+3's I guess.

This one came really close to being ideal...


Les Paul Custom neck dimensions, 24-3/4" scale, 'U' profile 12" radius board, but I just hated the Floyd Rose on this particular guitar. However, since it was designed and built as a demo, the "flash" was a cool thing.

If I had it to do over again, I would have used a Gibson TOM and Faber TP-59 locking aluminum tailpiece....

Robert, I saw a guitar you would love the other day at the Sam Ash in Torrance. And for only $500!

It was a 2008 Robot SG that someone had taken the stupid robot electronics out of and put in a normal 50's wiring harness. Also put a set of proper Grovers on it.
Anyway, that model has the biggest neck of any SG I have ever run across. Seriously, like R7 thick.

At that insane price I came very close to buying it.

I've played the Supreme's with the maple cap. Close but no cigar. I think too much of the tone of the LP comes from the neck being set so far into the body.

Yay! I know that neck. My 2016 Gibson SG T Series has it...but I have been told that some of the newer SG's do not!
