Ok, I am a douchebag and didn't think twice.

I was aiming at the Sg Special, BUT saw this:

I hate myself.

Pulled the trigger. It'll be here by Monday.

It's a 61 reissue worn brown.

It's listed as "faded", but in the Gibson site I see basically the same guitar listed as "satin". Is there a difference?

ATTA BOY!

Congrats on one bloody great guitar, @Sérgio! It is just plain beautiful. You're gonna love it. And if you don't, you know where to send it. '57 Classics?

Oh my goodness------ oh my goodness......you naughty naughty boy-----

I can almost SMELL 1961 as I look at it!!!!!

Gahr, I bought it for two reasons.

I needed a guitar with humbuckers, and I am a traditional kind of dude, I wouldn't defile one of the strats by installing a humbucker on them. First because in my head, strats should be classic SSS. Second because one os a vintage discontinued series, and the other is a US made Standard that I LOVE the way it is.

And the other reason is that although my previous experience with SGs wasn't so good (I never really bonded with my old G400 due to its body shape and neck dive , but it's quite a different guitar compared to a 1961 reissue) , but I wanted a Gibson and truth is, given the current economic situation here, Les Pauls are too expensive.

I can get just as much tone, beauty and vintage mojo with a Gibson USA (Custom Shops are too xpensive as well) reissue SG for about one third of the price I'd pay for a R9 Les Paul.

Breathe deeply. You'll be fine. All self-loathing with vanish like mist once you hold it in your hands!

But, you better have a little chat with your Stratocaster to prep him for the new arrival.

Yeah, I'll probably feel good when I look at my man cave and see the Fender and the Gibson paired up...

But right now I am feeling like the most irresponsible SOB on Earth.

Good choice. I agree with your view of defiling your Strats.

Congratulations! That looks sweet!

I am not sure but I think the difference between faded and satin is the faded is thin glossy nitro without grain filler and satin is... well... satin!

I have both. My Faded is glossier than my SGJ.
