Well i am really crazy ... SIX is still in the works and i am starting new projects (yes, plural...)

An old idea ... convert a design i did for my ergonomic guitar project into a bass guitar. And here it is - Sharkfin (do You remember those trendy guitar picks from the 70s?)

Body: Basswood.
Top: European Walnut
Multiscale, like SIX.
Hardware: gold.

Yes, I wrote "plural":

You see one of those unfinished vintage necks from 1974 - NOS. The contour has been taken from my Gibson EB-11 (the bas on my avatar). The inner shapes of the cutawas converted to the classical look. And a perfect fit with a scale of 77.6 cm - the scale of the EB-11.

I have a flamed top with some irregularities and a walnut body blank. Simplistic electronics: one or two slim pickups, toggle switch, kill switch. Nothing else.

Might come after Sharkfin. Working name Primavera (in the hope winter will be over soon...)

Robert - You seem to make guitars in a (semi-) professional matter. So time and effort do matter. If i planned to sell my guitars i would at least use an electrical fret saw. And that in connection with a high quality japanese saw for resawing the remaining block will be similarly fast as using the router. Or even faster because You need to make a jig before routing - and that alone can be similar in effort like my working with hand tools.

(But the electrical fret saw is on my shopping list as soon as i have a real workshop again...)

BTW: i just cut the sharkfin top into three pieces using the fret saw from my childhood. Its blades are thinner and allow for better cuts.
