I just woke up thinking there had been a car crash outside. Nope. A rack of shelves that has clung to the wall for thirty years came adrift, and dumped about 100 LPs, 200 CDs and assorted goodies all over my desk and floor. The mess is unbelievable. It only failed to drop my turntable, amp etc on the floor because a speaker caught it.

So that's my job when I get home from work. Got to replace all the shelves and sort out the damage.

Also time to review your insurance, are we covered adequately?

Insurance just got renewed, but there is nothing to claim here, I can put it all right. For the god fearing, am I supposed to thank him for not totally wrecking everything or curse him for doing it in the first place? Always confusing. (Only kidding, moderators, don't get out the red pen).
 
30 years in the same house, that's a milestone.
My wife list's ours for sale every 5 or 8 then tells me it would be nice for a change.
Hmmm, 8 years here now, time to keep an eye on her cleaning out cupboards.

I've never felt the need to move. I lucked out big time when I bought the house. It's in the heart of London, but surrounded by woodland (Hampstead Heath). Brilliant transport connections and interesting neighbours.
 
Don't you just wish that one day you can get back at those insurance companies :-)
I've had ongoing house and contents cover since 1976 and not one claim :-(

I tried to claim once - can't remember what for. In the end it wasn't worth it. They said my no claims bonus was protected, and wouldn't be cut. So what they were going to do was increase the basic premium instead. Robbing bastards.

That would mean zero to my wife, when she gets the bug to move we move.
I've sold a couple that I'd have been VERY happy to grow old in.

You are obviously insured by the same company as me.
 
Man you would expect that something anchored to a brick wall for 30 years wasn’t going to go anywhere. My experience with drilling and fixing into brick has generally been if it doesn’t move in the first 5 minutes it’s pretty much there until the bombs go off!

Hope the clean up doesn’t reveal any hidden disasters and I’m glad the instruments are ok. Looks like that cello was right in the firing line?

Renetly had to claim insurance after a storm for a damaged fence and garage door. Approved the claim reasonably quickly...took 3 months to do the repairs...couldn’t get my cars into the garage the whole time...luckily both were out of the garage at the time the door was damaged and rendered inoperable!
 
Starting point for new wall mounts.
A man like you must work it out or some "higher power" will bite you on the backside :-)

Glad the instruments where o.k.!! IS that the famous turbo charged vox?!?!?
