Guitars That Changed Your Life:

The guitar that changed my life was a 1977 Les Paul Custom.

This is not a picture of the actual guitar but it looked identical:

Anyway, it changed my life because it introduced me to what a top-quality guitar played and sounded like. It was completely eye-opening and dumped gasoline on the fire I already had burning to play guitar. It feels like that guitar was never out of my hands for the first 4-5 years that I had it. It went on to serve me well for 22 years and I sadly had to part with it in 1999. I had another '77 just like it for a couple of years in the early 2000's but that one didn't have the same mojo. Ended up taking me until just last year to find another '70's Custom that I thought was as good as my old '77. That one is truly the one that got away...sure wish I had managed to hold on to it.

This is my first Les Paul Custom I think I got it in 1971 it's a 1968-1969 one piece body it was stolen in 1977 got it back in 1985 the thieves re fretted it brass nut and changed the bridge.
It has a chunky neck like a 1956 so I'm sure it's a 1950's body and neck I don't play it feels like a rape victim.

I started playing in 2014 my first guitar a Squire Affinity, But the guitar that changed my life in respect to learning and gaining confidence in my playing, is my 2015 Godin Session Stratocaster. Its made such an impact I will never sell it cause its a keeper. View attachment 10827

You finally uploaded a full size picture of your lovely Godin guitar. It sure looks sweet...love the satin finish and pick up configuration.;)

He now sings a slightly different tune. With some mods, fixes, tweaks, and detailing, I am glad to hear this SG is now enjoyable to play.

Yes!!! That is true!!! It's become a GREAT guitar!!!

After pulling the PCB, the Gibson 490's, and later the Gibson 57 Classics, I settled on a Tone Man 50's Style Cloth harness, With Hats with Pointers, Full Copper Shielding, Faber Locking Aluminum Tailpiece, Russian Elves K40Y Tone Beans (a .015uf Neck and a .033uf Bridge) and a pair of GFS Classic II Alnico II with resistance values of 8.0kΩ / 7.8Ω

The adjustable locking tailpiece was necessary because my SG had a steeper-than-normal neck angle.

I just ordered up a pair of Thro-Bak SLE-101's for the SG, but other than this tonal change, it's a most excellent guitar!!!

Maybe not 1.120" but I bet it's nice!!!

I misread this second line of text as, "I play it like a rape victim..." :-)
