Been top wrapping for almost 30 years. Even if it's not needed I still do it. Habit I guess.

Maybe he uses a wound G. Top wrapping is supposed to make bending easier. I don't really notice much if any difference with 11's and a wound G.

I've never attempted this technique myself, but it looks like a winner:

The above method works perfectly.
Just don't over tighten the screw in the anchor or
you may have an issue backing the anchor out.

Ive stuck needle nose pliers inside the input jack hole and it held it enough to snug the nut up.

Update on the input jack.

The drywall anchor I had was a bit small to let me tighten the nut to where I would like it, but it's better. Off to the hardware store later.

Cheap and it works. Grandpa would be proud!
