YOUR Welcome :)

Ive seen those before but never used them. Most of what ive run into with Dog Ear P90s is some are a little to high. The Duncan Antiquities P90 Dog Ear is the lowest profile ive run into. Gibson P90 Dog Ear about the norm and the Bare Knuckle P90 Dog Ear was the tallest.

On a brighter note, ive never noticed any tonal difference in a couple 16ths of a inch or so on the P90 Dog Ear.

Best P90 Dog Ear ive had to date i got to hand to Gibson in my 2015 Les Paul JR with the circut board controls . I know right.Actually its the only P90 guitar i got.20171126_095231.jpg

Hmmm...really? Maybe that's a p-90 thing? I never messed with them so I don't know but I hear a huge change in moving a humbucker closer to the strings - more body - more thickness - more articulation.

Both my SG pickups are 3/32" from the strings when fretted at the 21st.

Try this with a Stratocaster - the magnetic pull will cause a warble you cannot escape.

Shims are helpful, but inadequate. You must take off the strings, add a shim, test the sound, add another. Also, you cannot adjust the sides to different heights. How many thickness shims do they have anyway?

I do appreciate the effort, but I NEED SPRINGS (or surgical tube, which works just fine).

you could through a process of sanding and adjusting achieve the optimal prefered angle --- does the nut and bridge saddles not need adjustment in a similar fashion?
Yes, but with a tuner more than your ears. I think it would take a month or 2 to A/B a fair sample of heights and sand shims for them until you picked the one you liked best. Why not just GET ADJUSTABLE PICKUPS?

I have them Ray.........but I also have dog ears --- because they sound/feel different.
And frankly they sound damn good--- the BKP one in the SG HAS adjustable pole pieces for "fine tuning" --if and when I decide what I am hearing doesnt please me--- though I am very very pleased at present......as I am with the Les Paul 100 --it does not displease me in any fashion -- even if it HAD adjustable pickup capability ---I doubt I would mess with it as that seems a complete waste of time and energy when I like the sounds it makes now....

The VOX SDC I DID recently adjust the pickups on because the sustain was lacking--- I can do it -- I have done it many times--- I just fail to see the obliteration of an entire option (you like options) of pickup design because it "doesn't allow adjustment"

PERFECT option for you to test the waters........go to the "dogs" Ray :)
