The copper really does make a difference. On the SG, I even rolled little tubes of copper and slipped them into the holes intersecting the cavities so they all have continuity....On the Destroyer, I am using shileding paint covered by conductive adhesive copper tape... :-)
 
Let me say this about my 2017 Gibson SG T Series. It looks great. Flawless actually. It stays in perfect tune and the notes don't bend when handling it, so the neck joint is good. Love the slow ratio "Green Keys. " I also love the 1" x .957" neck. All 6 saddles line up almost perfectly when intonation was set.

The neck joint is a little steep, requiring a shimmed tailpiece (Faber TP-59 locking aluminum tailpiece) but action is fantastic.

A custom harness from Gary Standefer, a roll of copper tape and some wax potted Alnico II PAF clones made it fabulous....

When I show up at rehearsal with a different guitar, everyone asks "Where's the SG?" It definitely has a very Angus Young=ish quality that fits very well in a classic rock setting.

I have been very reluctant to get close to it, but it's ease of handling, light weight, huge neck and easy playing, combined with the smooth tone from the Alnico II's, have made it my new number one...

Mine was the same way . . . perfection. I am actually considering putting the Robo's on my SG.

True...It's SOP for the OCD like me. Every one of the 22 Von Herndon's I built were fully shielded. I even roll up copper "burritios" in the wire channels so that all the cavities are connected and roll it into place with sections of wooden dowels. Now on Explorer/Destroyer style guitars that I have worked on for people, with long wire channels, I paint the channels inside 360° with conductive paint. I also paint the cavities and then apply copper tape to that with conductive adhesive from Art of Tone in Ventura, California. I have been able to get full continuity even on my three pickup Destroyer model....

I will post a few photos of the shielding I did in some of the production Von Herndon's later....
