Possibly N(old)AD.

I dig slide.
I was listening to some Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac while building that AXL LP husk recently.
I really like My Heart Beat Like a Hammer. I think thats Jeremy Spencer on slide.
Great stuff.

Yeah, Jeremy Spencer played some mean Elmore James-style slide in Fleetwood Mac. That band (the Peter Green years) was a truly great blues band.

So, the amp recently started buzzing a bit too much for my liking. Seems like the speaker doesn’t handle the bottom strings very well. Since this was not a problem when I first got it, can I assume that it has been blown at some point during my playing? I have been playing it at full tilt whenever the wife and kids have been out of the house.:D

I had been thinking about changing the speaker for some time anyway, so I went ahead and ordered a 8 ohm Warehouse 10» Veteran, seen here: 10" Veteran - 20 Watts | Warehouse Guitar Speakers
It is supposedly a warm-sounding speaker, which I think will fit the rather bright Skylark.

Now, is there anything in particular I need to think about when I put it in the amp? Anything special I need to consider when connecting the wires etc.? I have changed speaker elements in old hi-fi loudspeakers before, but I was a kid at the time, so I just went ahead and did it without thinking about anything that might be problematic. Everything went fine, but this time I want to really make sure I dont screw anything up...

Just to make sure it's the speaker, have you tested the amp plugged into a different speaker from another cab or combo?

I didn't see your answer until now... I got the WGS speaker today, and out it in right away. VOILA! The buzzing is gone, and the treble is a bit sweeter with the new speaker. I haven't tested it at any real volume yet, but It seems to do the job very nicely.

Got this little book in the mail to day, by the way. A pretty cool read.

That's good news. Is the first speaker original?

Yes, it's the original CTS speaker. I'll keep it neatly packed away in a box, should the need to put it back in arise for some reason. I hope I'll have time to check the new one out properly tomorrow. I only had time to test if the speaker actually worked today, no proper playing.
