Put it this way, I was allowed a gun permit (Thailand is equally as dangerous as Mexico although it gets better press) equally in my wife's name, but there was no way that I would let her know such a weapon was in the house - a knife is very scary in her hands, or a brick or anything really; Thais are naturally insane and violent. She's an excellent protector, but I wouldn't want her to unleash all her potential violence upon me! For some reason, the word Bobbit comes to mind...

Back to amps for a second: one of the biggest mistakes I made was not buying a 20w Fender Vaporizor for less than $300 delivered when they were on final kick out about 18 months ago...

Hold out for a used Rectoverb Grumpy.
I'm still on a love affair with mine.
Even though I keep buying amps, nothing can hold a candle to the Rectoverb 25.
It pushes all my buttons. Small, light, tonefull and the sustain... Oh my God.
Instant Carlos Santana. I've never had an amp as tonefull and responsive, and that's comparing it to my other Mesa, an F30.
Nothing can touch it for the price.
My combo was $1299 new. Steep, yes but oh so rewarding.
Makes a hack sound like a God.

I find that if you are limited in volume, it is always "safer" to get your dirt from a pedal. Anytime you are getting natural breakup, it is too load for someone in the adjacent apartment, or in my present situation, the same house

I though about the shed, i really did, but how do you get to it in snow, carrying a guitar? How do you keep it suitable for electronics? How do you keep it safe from theft? How will you get me back in the house?

About 1.5x this.The ceilings are six feet. the 1sq ft foam pices cover 96 sq ft (not sure of the exact measurements). Could I do the "room in a room"?

The problem is the jungle creatures; I especially dislike the spitting cobras. I have been told we have 5-6 metre King Cobres and Kraits around, but I have never seen one and hope I never do.

Thanks and a great idea! Apparently, the coverage I have so far has resulted in significant noise reduction. I wanted to add more ceiling tiles, but she made me promise not to. apparently, it is a claustrophobia thing

To the OP, yeah, that's way too much. I got a like-new one for $700 off Reverb just earlier this year, and it's some of the best money I have ever spent. Just cannot say enough good things about the Mini-Rec. I use it just as much as my Mark 5, and moreso when I need to play play at low volume - the MR sounds just as good at conversation levels through an open back 1x12 as it does through a 4x12 at gig levels. And the green channel cleans are much better than you would probably expect and take pedals like a champ. I used to own a Single Recto 50 head and I actually like the tone of the Mini better. I've been mostly using is with the 1x12 cab (Mesa C-90 speaker) and it slays with that. I'm about to pick up a Recto 1x12 for my Mark but I will likely use the open back with the Mini.

At this point I am basically a Mesa-only guy. They sound better and are built better than any other amps I have owned (high-gain amps. I don't really mess around with "vintage-style" stuff). When you factor everything in they are actually a bargain, especially when you consider the versatility and compare to "boutique" makers. Mesa was basically the first boutique amp company, and they have somehow managed to maintain their quality while growing the business.
