New Mesa amp day

I was in pain for more gain...
So I ordered up a Mesa Rectoverb 25.

Picked it up at FedEx this morning.
Now my needs have been met.

It was a hard decision between the Rectoverb 25 and the Mark V 35, but the Recto won out.
I'm not at all unhappy with my decision. This thing is unreal.
12" speaker and weighing in at 41 pounds, it's still quite portable.
Two amp switchable and foot switchable channels with two modes on each channel.
Also has a 10 watt & 25 watt power switch.
Goes from clean to face melting overdrive with sustain up the wahoo.

Why the Recto over the Mark?
Easier to dial in, fewer knobs & switches to deal with, and most of all, more gain...
Quite a lot of performance in a small package.

It also looks quite nice next to it's F 30 cousin.
Personally I think you made the right decision. I concur with you that the rectifiers are easier to dial in. The Marks you are constantly tweaking and I never found a good base tone I really liked. Recto all the way! I actually just retubed mine this weekend.

I would be content with the Mesa Rectoverb. I want a Rectoverb. I think I need a Rectoverb! I would also take a mini rectifier! I need a Rectoverb or a Mini Rectifier. I have looked, and deals are hard to come by on these.

Emma Stone --- and Zoey DeSchanel

Is that the best you can do???

I'll resort to my standard Goddess and throw in another lovely lady too.

I agree, you NEED a Rectoverb.
It's a surprising and wonderful little amp.
I could now be content if the Rectoverb was my only amp.
The cleans are sparkly clean. The reverb is wonderfully lush and the gain, especially in the modern mode is unreal.
In the modern mode, notes blossom into the most glorious controllable and musical feedback that I've ever encountered.
Hard to describe, but it's uplifting and spiritual when experienced.

I WOULD choose it for my desert island amp, as long there was electricity on said island...

The amp hoarder in me will never rest, but this purchase will really be hard to top.

Do you find the cab to be essential, or do you think you would have been happy with the head version?

All my amps are combos.
Just the way I roll. I'm a grab & go kinda guy.
Never had a head / cab setup, so I have no comparison.

I had read a couple of reviews that said the combo sounded "boxy", but many more reviews bragged on it's stellar tone.

I will add that I think a 12" speaker is the minimum size that I would have, or want in a combo.
Had an older Mesa 5:25 Express combo with a 10" speaker and I couldn't get rid of that amp fast enough.

I have that monster magnet 12" Peavey Combo less the head, so cab and the 10x12 I just built. I figure if I get the head
1 - I will get the most use out of these items
2 - the wife will be less likely to notice it!!

Brilliant! Rectoverb 25 head is $200 less than the combo, to boot.
And the Mini Rec is even less, but you loose that awesome reverb.

I have been really enjoying the TC HOF mini pedal. I took the time to make my own "toneprints" with the software they provide and it is all I could ask for. In fact, I shut the reverb on the amps that do have them. If you are willing to take the time to learn the software and come up with your own profiles, the pedal is awesome. Of course, I can assist anyone who chooses to do this with what I have learned.

RVA what's your budget for a recto head? If I see one I can give you a heads up.
Thanks! It is not so much a budget as much as a deal I cannot refuse. The easy to find price seems to be $ 999 for either mini rec or rectoV. I have seen $ 750 + $ 40 shipping for used as a low mark so far.
