Finally Rearranging the Bedroomio

iPhone illiterate
In the App Store, search for “image size”. It’s free and easy to use. I have a folder in my “files”(a stock iPhone/iPad place for stuff…cloud based storage connected etc) I labeled it “resized image”, and I save from the image size app to that folder…then copy from there and paste here…

Ok, will do. They are easy to resize provided you have the correct tools.

Love the SG and Les Paul. Beautiful color on the LP

I know this is a work in progress, so you may have already corrected this.. but these reflective surfaces behind your monitors are going to cause standing waves and comb filtering.

Need to break this up with diffusers.

Yep…I am aware. The room is relatively huge though…used area is 24x26 feet. Wired with two dedicated 30 amp breakers(fairly clean and quiet power). Floors and ceilings are not parallel surfaces. It is a drylocked c&c block embankment foundation with a framed back wall, filled with rock wool, and panelled with 5/8 pine. The rest of the room is pretty diffuse. Bass trapping is more of a concern to me. There is some, but some is never enough ;) .
That corner is hilariously ported there, leading to another 10x23 foot (roughly) space…partially taken up by the roughly 8x3 chimney footing(that’s the red square on the right). Other utilities and instrument cases etc reside there, along with my workbenches.

But hey…I can have some fun there. Nowadays it gets a lot of home theater use, and casual jamming.
I learned the room and monitors pretty easily, and found most standing wave issues were in the low end, under 220hZ, and really between 60hZ and 120hZ…but that was with smaller, crappier monitors. Now it’s not so bad with the HS8s. Also the drums have been replaced by a mass of stuff, and a bookcase.
The home theater rig has audio provided by some little JBL pill shaped monitors, and an Eris sub…they can also be fed by the studio computer for alt monitoring. They are 8 feet from the amp wall, aimed toward the desk area. The JBLs are lame, but so am I.

@PLX Now I’m all curious about the topic…. I’m gonna DL & load up room eq wizard Sunday, dig out the old crappy measurement mic, and run some pink noise…it’s supposed to rain here anyway. I wanna see how bad my ears have gotten….maybe play a little “find the nulls”…I used to be pretty okay at that.

Yeah, I have used a mix of acoustic panels, skyline diffusers and foam sawtooth wedges in my 10'x10' guitar studio, and I have the room pretty much where I want it.

Looks fantastic! Looks like a standard construction box style room though, like my office. I can see the need for treatment…lots of parallel surfaces. Really, that looks sweet!!!
No foam for me though…I live in a swamp. Too many nooks and crannies for things to grow and breed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have the confidence to do it, but I do not.
Bass trapping is my need, I believe. When I started, I could walk around while blasting pink noise, and find the bass nulls out in the performance area. Once I did the ceiling, that became more difficult.
I’d do the wood diffuser, if I felt the need. (And I may) But maybe I have plenty of junk scattered around here.
Maybe I’ll start a new thread Sunday, if I have anything interesting to share.
I feel bad for thread jacking @ibmorjamn ….sorry. No offense intended.

Not a problem, good topic. Mostly recording to interface / Daw but I can certainly do some room recordings. I wish I could let a 4 x 12 rip like @Headache , excuse me 2 x 4 x 12.

I’ve been running 3x4x12s and a 2x12 off and on tonight. ;) But I’m not as entertaining as he is.
Actually you do entertain , I happened on your bastard channel , what’s your he cover? Shock the Monkey? Peter Gabriel, complete avant-garde . That and Electric Funeral was top notch.

I see you have your monitors sitting on acoustic de-couplers.

(y)
I’m wondering if you meant to quote me…because yes…they are why I know that I don’t want to glue foam to the walls. That’s like my 5th set…I have to replace them every couple of years. I have a backup set ready for when these go sour, but I did a huge cleanup right before I put these down, and they’re holding up pretty well so far. Not as much beer and sweat getting flung around with no band practice here anymore. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Wow! Thank you sir!!! Shock the Monkey was recorded live(a bit muddy) …here….IIRC. I can’t believe they let me talk them into that song. They were like, “You wanna do WHAT now?!?!”. :rolf:
