So I've been super busy this spring and summer and I have been holed up working on something that may make you puke. I really just wanted to see if I could, And I seem to have hit a wall with how much better I will ever be at it. So without any adoo what so ever.

…make us puke?

Dude! That’s was awesome. Keep up the good work.
Thanks my friend, I’m not not sure about awesome, but I appreciate ya stopping by to listen.
And as far as the puke part all you have to do is mention a guitar player with a Y in his name and it triggers an automatic gag reflex. :ROFLMAO:

Man, I have put in so many hours tryna get that Yngwie style of play under my fingers, but cannot get up to speed.

I hear that, I have been working on 3 tunes for about 2 years and I am not sure it’s going to get any better. I think I may have reached my max. I was really just doing it to see if I could. On one hand some of the mystery is now now lifted for me. But on the other hand I have a new appreciation for for what is actually happening, and the fact that YJM basically just improvs all his tunes live and never plays anything the same is pretty wild to me. In that regard not unlike what EVH used to do.

I saw a YT video the other day from an online guitar instructor that I have learned a lot from. This idea he presents here has really helped me improve this style, but also my overall playing as well.

That is a great lesson, I need to look more of his content up. I have been working to play as lightly as possible, but I am undoing 40 years of being taught to “strangle” the notes out. Which of course is the worst thing you can do. I have also gone to lighter gauge strings for the first time since well forever. I actually had a set of 7.5’s that at first I scoffed at, now I will be ordering more.

Well, regardless of how well you played it, it’s about 100 better than I could play it.
It’s funny because it is more notes in one song than many players played in their whole career. Win for me!

That has been noted.lol He did further help to create a guitar style (Neo Classical shred)
Not the first but he made a huge stride.

Thank you my friend, the sheer number of notes is concerning, I wasn’t sure I had the storage. Still wondering what got shoved out, I did forget my anniversary this year

Huge fan of Uli and Blackmore, as was YJM too.

Yeah, it took me about 2 years of playing and trying to play fast stuff to figure out.. the only time you apply that sort of pressure is when you're bending strings.

Sage advice right there!
I need to do that too. I am used to hard playing, hard hitting and gripping and bending. Partly from trying to be entertaining live and moving around. Tends to be larger movements in everything on a stage.
That sounded just awesome!
For fast picking I tend to wiggle my fingers as if writing, almost circular as opposed to the whole length of finger. Seems to be less movement in right hand allowing for a bit more speed.
Stuff to work on, that was cool.

The odd time I get to play the blues I find myself digging in very hard. After the strummy bit here, I would find it impossible to play lightly. Something I gotta work on.
I'm digging in really hard gonna cramp up my left hand. Thanks for the great video and tips

For me, when I started playing almost 3 years ago, I got it into my head that sound I was hearing from my favorite guitar players was coming from some kind of insane monkey-grip on the fretboard.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
