Strat Pickups and why do I hate them?

Well, I have no problem with putting humbuckers in Strats or Teles. I actually have an HSS Stratocaster. I was assuming the intended "Strat" pickup being discussed is the traditional single coil pickup. In that context, it is a mistake to expect the Strat to sound like something like a Les Paul (assuming the typical humbucker setup).

But, I didn't mean to preclude the option of putting humbuckers in a Strat. Having said that, a humbucker in a Strat will still not sound like a humbucker in a Les Paul. That's not a bad thing. It's just something to be aware of.
The converse of that.... Having a push/pull switch on a humbucker guitar, turning that pup into a single coil isn't going to make it sound like a Strat.

My comment was aimed primarily at me and my own personal opinion on how I like my guitars set up. Wouldn't dream of suggesting your (or anyone's) guitar is wrong because you have a HB(s) on a strat/tele style guitar. Like music genres, there's enough different combinations out there.... pup types, body shapes, type of wood, etc..... If one can't find a guitar to fit ones needs, I dare say the issue is the player.... not how the guitars are set up. At the end of the day ya gots to love that thing or you're not gonna play it.

Exactly, I have a Trembucker in my HB Strat.
This thread is about finding a crunchy sounding single like the Bareknuckle only less boutique priced like a he Lace Sensor C-Grin demo.
I looked at the LC Gold also. They sound great with effects pedals, on YouTube anyway.
The Gold are supposed to be more fender like. I will find something.
I like options.

I can vouch for the Fender Fat '60s I have in my GT11 Strat. They sound huge but rolled back are classic Strat sound.

Since I added a humbucker to my Strat, I now have the best of all worlds. The clean from the Lace Sensors and the roar of the Humbucker.
So that takes me back to what I've always said; you can make a Strat sound like a LP but you can't make a LP sound like a Strat.

I remember being a lad in high school taking off at lunch driving around havin a smoke and listening to Robin Trowers bridge of sighs. To rollin stoned ect. I liked his music.

Love his tone. Very "Stratty" but at the same time it's a really big, pushed tone, aggressive a lot of times (he has the overdriven Strat tone I think Hendrix was going for but never quite perfected), and I have always liked his use of effects.

I do have humbuckers in strats but I would like to have one that does the single coil thing. Many players have pulled it off.
Examples are Scorpions. Rudolph played the rhythm humbucker tone. Uli turned the Strat into the Marshall on 10 with some fuzz, drives and modulation

This month I wrote 12 original songs and recorded them number 10 had a tricky hammer on pull off
song written on my 1965 SG Standard recording tried 10 guitars two Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Standard's
4 PRS USA guitars Peavey HP2 NOS SG Standard 1961 Fender Stratocaster 12 string Ovation Legend
The 1961 Stratocaster was the best sounding out of the bunch still missed the riff and used my F5 Mandolin on the recording
I don't understand the hate for Stratocasters I have 4 great ones went through a lot of them to get the 4 keepers

I don’t hate Strats at all, I’m just not totally in to the Fender clean tone. The Strat tones I like are more saturated. To much ruins it but if I find the right pickup and drive the right amount with a couple of obvious effects added it should be what I’m after.
I don’t have any expensive guitars, probably never will.

Something like these will be what I end up with. Lace Sensor “ Blue Fire Pickups”
Burgundy Bridge, who hoo!

I have thought about going with either a burgundy or purple to match up with the emerald and gold in the sparkly orange Strat. I paired the blue with a silver in another and that is a solid rock machine.

Either set would work for me including the gold.
