OK, i'm here!

This month's deep dive subject:
Love For Sale (1a)

D'Angelico Premier Mini DC XT (SD Jazz pickup)
HX Stomp, RC-3

Written by Cole Porter for his 1930 musical 'The New Yorkers', the song is sung from
the viewpoint of a prostitute.
When it was first released, newspapers labelled it 'in bad taste', and radio stations
refused to play it.

Because of the complaints, Porter shifted the setting of the song in the musical to the
Cotton Club in Harlem, where it was sung by an African American, Elisabeth Welch,
instead of white singer Kathryn Crawford.
Somehow, that made it OK.
Really?
*rolls eyes*
It's still a great tune, though!

Standards Sunday, and unfortunately i really haven't shedded this tune at all
this month; despite it being one of my faves to play, other things just took precedence
even though i had intended to devote more time to it ... and it's a bit of a tricky one.
So, me being me, i herewith present as naked a version as possible, just single note
guitar* along with the upright bass:
Love For Sale (mr sunnybass version)

Benedetto 'Benny' i > HX Stomp, RC3

*i actually did play a couple of octaves the last time through the melody, but who's counting?
