Battle of the Bands 1968-1980

I’ll jump right to the Super Bowl prediction:

Stones vs. Zep !

The classic early Stones 2 thumbs but after that, not so much.
It’s funny how rock got going back in the hey day of the Stones . I had read they jumped on a plane and flew over to states to watch a R&B group. Not sure how accurate that is but Zep started out to be a blues , what is rhythm and blues?

Anyhow, which no disrespect I hold Zep higher on the food chain of rock just for sheer guitar work alone but they were a super group.

Not many like them in terms of success not on bubblegum (not saying Stones are bubblegum)

I'll also be curious to see how the matchups go.

For example, I don't see ZZ top as the same kind of band as Pink Floyd.

Adding Mitch's picks but only his first nomination, we only get one for now.
Adding SG John's second for Hendrix in lieu of him not adding two new bands..

So , UFO is with out a doubt a major influence, not just by me but I can say by things I have seen many guitarist from many styles are influenced by Michael.
James,Kirk , Michael Mcreedy, Michael Amott,Faulkner and probably a lot more.
If I had one vote UFO would be it.
Scorpions are great and Uli is a master, my soul is embedded with UFO the Chrysalis years.

@SG John you've already got your adds. @Jethro Rocker you too! As much as I love your suggestions. Each person here should have equal weight in this process.

Thank you @Gahr

We currently have 27 bands listed. It's practically criminal The Stones, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac CNSY and Creedence do not appear, but here we are.

To join in this tourney...
Step #1 add TWO new bands that are not on this list yet.
Step #2 give ONE nomination to a band already on the list.

Any new blood watching to help round out this list that have not added yet? I want to end new additions at 32 then we can begin a round of single nominations from each TTR member to hone it down. The first 16 bands to earn 3 nominations will be on the final tourney ladder.

I propose having some sort of auxiliary step #1 to include some deserving of consideration bands that did not make it into someone's 2 choices.

This second round of nominations will sufficiently separate the wheat from the chaff.

Ok I took "Executive Privilege" and just added the last three names to make 32. New Nominations Now Closed
You may each now add ONE nomination "x" as we go through in turn. any band earning three nominations makes the 16 band final tourney ladder.

My nomination "X" goes to The Stones for just pretty much defining what a rock star lifestyle should be, along with Keith Moon, and Syd B of course.
