Dokken wins vs Warrant decisively. But honestly? I put both on youtube channels on this aft, and played through four of both.
Absolute tripe, most of it. Uncle Tom was cool. But the rest of Warrant that youtube fed me was close dance cop-a-feel crap.
Then Dokken, in my dreams, nice riff, but could they not fricken tune guitars to a regular tuning? Every song except one ballad seemed a quarter step out of any kind of regular tune. What madness is that? some sort of trick? And again, all those ballads. Both bands really. Answers the question why both groups stayed completely off my radar for that decade. At least george had some cool guitars, and memorable solo moments.
Anyway, I voted. Didn't really matter, Dokken rules the Battle of The Simps. Let's see how they fare against Crue.
Ok next up, Kip vs. Keifer.
At least Winger had some testosterone it seems.
Can the same be said about Cinderella?
I actually don't know much about Winger, other than their border-line pedo hit song, but that was pretty common back in the day.
I own the Cinderella debut. was talking with Jethro the other day how I recently looked at the cover art and wondered WTF was I thinking, that that had anything at all to do with cool. Boy how tastes and styles morph and change.
Somebody Save Me, is really in my core top 100 songs of all time, it speaks to me for whatever reason. Appears on dozens of my mix tapes and mp3 burns over the years.
Keiffer was an absolute riff beast, presence, great pipes too! Triple threat, but did he drag the rest along for the ride maybe?
Kip had all the handsome good looks and serious presence for sure... will this come down to airplay alone?
Anyway, time for another vote. let's hear your thoughts!
