Tis It Time Yet?

Ahhhh, bull. I owned a perfect clone of a Dumble, a Fuchs ODS, and it sounded really good, but it still sounded like me playing an electric guitar. Believe me, if there’s anything to get, I get it.
That is a good point, no matter what I play tube or solid state sounds like me.

2 amps I miss , one is the JCM 900 and no you don’t get to be a snob about that amp with me so don’t try. lol
Have you seen that Marshall is coming out with the 20 watt Studio JCM900? It also has a 20/5/1 watt switch on the back panel. I'm very interested in trying one when they become available. These are all cool, but the 900 has me thinking. :hmmm:

I did not see that, hopefully it’s a faithful reincarnation. I honestly think the 20 watts are a little weak. Of course I had a 100w with 5881’s.

It must be a popular amp since they already had a reissue and now this. The 90’s era 100w dual amp was a ball buster.

I am thinking about what to do with the studio classic. I feel like like it needs a output transformer upgrade.

That little 900 sounds fantastic in the video. I am actually tempted to just pre-order one, but should probably wait and check it out first. Been waiting for this one.

I ended up selling mine. I was fighting with it too much to get what I wanted out of it. I'm thinking the 900 being higher gain might work better for me.
I hate to say it but I agree. I didn’t notice you sold it Steve, I’m glad I’m not the only one. The 800 has only worked well for me on the low output but I almost think I like the DSL 40cr a little more.
I really need to do a amp shoot out with four amps I currently have.

Yup. I was tempted when they came out with the 800, but even that doesn't have enough gain or heft for what I want. Have been waiting for them to release something like this in combo form.

One thing I really like about that video above is that someone finallly talks about 100W vs 50W vs 20W not being about volume, but about how "big" the tone is. I've known plenty of people that gig with 100W amps set quite low volume-wise, but they sound much bigger than a lower-watt amp at the same level.

ALL I can say to that gball is,,,, WHEN I use my '72 Marshall JMP 50 watter into my 4x12 1960A cab, and my Lester plugged in with the amp on 2-4 ish, it is not only sonic but tactile nirvana as well.
