NGD the Chili way. '07 Faded V

That's it for tonight. The cat ( Kathy ) is away. Time for the Big Mouse to play ( guitar)
HAHA my actual cat had different plans for now. He hopped back in my lap for chillin time. I give him credit, he wanted to be outside all day and most of the night despite it being in the 20's out there and snow on the ground. He will sleep indoors tonight.

OK, when I was giving it a test run at Kevin's studio, I had one experience I would like to ask you guys about your feelings and solutions for this.

I am sure that if the guitar had speed knobs, or even grooved or chicken knob, witch hat etc type knobs vs the bell shaped ones, I would not be mentioning this.
But the 3 pots which I presume are CTS, are stiff stiff stiff, especially compared to my Faded SG which I installed Bournes pots in. The Bournes are super smooth and easy to rotate,

DO any of you guys have explanations about why CTS Gibson pots are stiff? I am fairly sure that Fender uses CTS and their pots never seem as stiff.

OK after about an hour swapping between my new V and my '79 LP, I decided she is definitely a keeper and feels much like my LP's and SG's. It is comfortable and familiar to play as when I swap between all my other guitars.
I still have to get used to the controls in the triangle 3 config, but the neck feels amazing just like my LP's and SG's.

Congrats Mark! I love it!!

What is the neck profile: slim taper or more rounded and if rounded somewhat chunky or still slim?
What does it weigh, and does it neck dive?
What pickups?
How well do the strings stay in tune well with the more pronounced angle from the nut to the tuners?

While I'm not really GASsing for anything, a Gibson V like that interests me enough to possible add the right one in the future.

The pots would probably benefit greatly from Deoxit F5 Faderlube.
Dont use regular electronics cleaner it lacks the necessary lubricant.

Dont over do it or the pots may become TOO easy to turn, which may or may not be desired.
It can be more of an issue on a Strat volume knob that is easy to bump with the picking hand.
I have this very issue on one of my strats.

'nother red rockin' vee in the house! Looks great, glad for you it's sitting well. I can't remember the last time I ducked under a guitar that felt entirely foreign... how much fun is it gettin' intimate with a new gal, right? LOL!
I get the V GAS maybe twice a year, this is causin' another damn flare-up. Couple of days ago I found myself looking at Star guitar kits, not a Booty Collins, the one like in the old Carvin ads with that Starship guy, Craig something-or-other?
I digress!

Happy (belated) New Guitar day!

Nice looking V Chilli. You still got that SG classic ??? The SG in the pick looks to have Humbuckers in it. That a Gibson Les Paul or your Epi ?
@JohnnyGoo, G' MORNING GOOOOOOOOOOO

Thanks, I was afraid that the V was going to be more PINKISH of a faded but it is closer to the Vintage Cherry of my Classic that I do still have.
Also, in the pic is my "79 Gibson KM that has the double cream T Top in the neck and Dimarzio Al DiMeola in the bridge.

As I said elsewhere, the V has Duncan Black Winter pups. Headache can tell you about these pups in detail as he has mentioned they are some of his favorites if not his favorite pups.

Thanks @TVvoodoo, NOTICE your name has 2 's V in it, hmmm.
Having first bought the Jackson RR3 V, now there is a foreign feeling guitar. The asymmetrical part is what does it for me, and the semi hockey stick headstock.

People say that V's are hard to play sitting. That may be true for some, but as I found out with my Epiphone V BASS, Playing an EPI or Gib V in my cushy TV watching, Computer typing, You Tube watching, Guitar playing chair, is actually quite comfortable. My chair is plenty roomy even with my wide body sitting in it. The V straddles my leg and right hip just right, and I got some killer noodling jams last night from the new V.

@jtcnj, the neck is medium. Not slim, not fat, I would say kinda D shape. I can sure put my contour gauge to it and compare to my GIB LP and Faded SG which as I said elsewhere are virtually the same contour where I measured them at 1st and 12th frets.

Thanks, I have some DeOxit on hand, I am pretty sure that Smitty would back me up, Bournes pots are amazingly free and easy to move. I have never had any trouble with pot Strats as far as hitting and knocking the volume one like you and EsGee ( Adrian)

For you and or almost any of our guys who DON'T have a Faded V like from the early 2000's like BastardDon, Headache, fitz, ME, THESE cherry V's are sick. Also, Mitch has a White V that is likely as killer as our red ones are. I already know that every video I have seen him playing it gave me V gas. Thanks to Mitch, Bdon and all you guys for pushing the plunger on the syringe. Don't tell anyone, but I will likely be adding a few more like Mitch has to choose from. He already knows about a certain Strat type guitar that is currently available near me that I want to go look at too. HINT HINT
